Managing the Flexible Workforce

In today’s workforce the need for flexible workforce is good for career orientate families.
Another good idea for flexible workforce is the hours of days, weeks and months for the needs of the business. Companies want to give the good quality of business to customers at their conveniences so the need to have the workforce stagger to meet the customer needs. The benefits of having flexible workforce is give employees a mixed of full-time and part-time schedule preferences. (Angove, 2010)

Having an on demand workforce in place with flexible employees this adds a more variety to your workforce. You company can be open longer and your employee have the ability to be at work and still handle personal business for example doctor appointments, family business. You have a bigger pool to pull from when you have your entire work schedule in order. The busy time of the day is when you have more employees in place. This helps eliminate call outs. You can schedule employees to come in early and other late and reroute every two to three months hour’s changes to meet the needs of the business.

Characteristics of a flexible workforce include:
Status mix (FT/PT/Temporary, etc.)
Flexible start time
Flexible hours per shift
Flexible hours per week
Flexible position (inbound/outbound; multimedia agent)
