Thinking about complexity is not to “think about a new problem”, but rather to “think in a new way about a problem that has always existed”.

First of all, we should think about what is the basis of complex thinking? The article gives the answer: Association of ideas or mental association has always been an integral part of scientific thinking. In today's increasingly complex world, being able to associate knowledge and different disciplines has become a considerable advantage.

Secondly, why should we think complexity? The video< Think about complexity>, Edgar Morin put up an example of the planetary era in which we are currently living. We realize that there is a fabric that weaves together all the interactions between politic aspects, economic aspects, demographic aspects, social aspects and so on so forth. In other words, all aspects are intertwined and complexity takes into account. So thinking in a way that integrates everything that is related is not an easy task. On the other hand, inability to connect things together overshadows the most essential and far-reaching problems and can even cause us to lose sight of things or be completely blinded.

Then let’s see what complexity thinking has change the scientific and whole world. From the article we could know that as early as the 1970’s Prigogine, Nobel Prize winner in Physics, and further Murray Gell-Mann developed the idea that the truth is equivalent to a field of possibilities more than a unique mathematical solution. Ilya Prigogine has proposed some variables which should be taken into consideration when doing complex thinking. Time is one of the main focuses of his scientific efforts. His point has always been to give physics a temporal dimension that corresponds with the evolutionary aspects that we are able to see everywhere around us. This narrative aspect or the need to see

In David M. Armstrong’s “The Nature of Mind”, Armstrong praises the field of science and seeks to put the concept of mind into terms that agree with science’s definition of minds. His interest is in the physico-chemical, materialist view of man. Armstrong considers science to be the authority over other disciplines because of its reliability and result in consensus over disputed questions.…

We become its followers, following its belief in “isolated, measured, and optimized” intelligence and its depiction of the future of artificial intelligence. The Internet is training us to think in a way without “the fuzziness of contemplation” (Carr, 595), the same way how artificial intelligence works. As a result, we gradually forget the uniqueness of our own intelligence: the beauty of the ambiguity. However, do we really expect everything to be certain and fixed? As the saying goes, “there are a thousand Hamlets in a thousand people's eyes.” We never try to figure out a standard way to interpret Hamlet, because it is not a “True or False” question. Everyone is expected to have a different interpretation based on his or her own personal experience and since people interpret it in different ways, Hamlet is no longer a lifeless figure life on book pages, he becomes a concrete figure lives in every reader’s imagination. It is the ambiguity that makes reading a pleased and fascinating process for us. Besides reading, there are thousands of questions in our life are free response questions which are filled with ambiguity and leaves us a space for interpretation. When we interpret those ambiguities from different emotional approaches, we see their various meanings. It is such ambiguity and variousness that shape our…

This new form of evolution is a source of long-term progress, and is the cause of an abundance of short-term suffering. Take, for example, Lewis Thomas. He might take some injury to my claim that The Wonderful Mistake lacks some fundamental logic. However, in the end, his mistake led to some deep thinking on my part, and maybe would lead to some deepened perspective on his. This process of disagreement and discussion inherent anywhere imperfection is found is vitally important to progress.…

To the response about barrier in effectively dealing with complexity, Tim has discussed that we humans have innate tendency of attaching cause to effect, which precludes understanding complex situations. I find that I am overly inclined towards cause-effect loop in dealing with complex situations. Though, many of times I don’t remain wary of the fact that I am dealing with complexity but my general approach in working such situation is controlled by the cause-effect phenomenon.…

Scientific discoveries of the seventeenth century changed people’s perception of the world. By discovering a universal law of nature, Newton banished mystery from the world, and show every man that the world was far more infinite than what was believed until then, and that every of its aspects could be explained through scientific arguments and universal laws . Aware of this new perspective, men of letters tried to apply the methods used in science to mankind. They developed a new way of thinking, based on human intelligence. The main aim was to make every aspect of the world intelligible to the human mind .…

I strongly agree with the statement above that it really requires effort and courage to have things simple rather than make things bigger and complicated. For my part, through simplifying things we can not only figure out the concealing rules from complexities, but also acquire more conveniences to save our time and more efficiency to improve our lives. My argument goes as follows:…
