Technical skills
Technical skills is the specific knowledge and techniques required to perform an organizational role. Skills reflect both an understanding of and a proficiency in a specialized field. A manager may have technical skills in a specialized field such as accounting, finance, computer science… etc. for example, an account payable manager must be proficient in accounting rules and procedures so that he can resolve problems and answer questions related to accounting.

Human Skills
Human skill is the ability to understand, alter, lead and control the behaviour of other individuals and groups. It is the ability to work well with other people both individually and in a group. Managers with good human skills are able to get the best out of their people. They know how to communicate, motivate, lead and inspire enthusiasm and trust. Katz said that human skills are important at all levels of management

Conceptual skills
Conceptual skills is the ability to analyse and diagnose a situation and distinguish between cause and effect. Managers must be able to see the organization as a whole and to visualize how the organization fits into its environment. Conceptual skills is the ability to see the big picture of the overall organization and how one’s own operation fits into this puzzle. A good executive understands that the objectives of the organization supercedes those of the immediate department. Katz propose that these skills become more important as they move into top management positions. These abilities are essential to effective decision making and all managers are involved in making decisions.

IMPORTANCE
Generally, conceptual skills are most important at the top management level. The reason is that top managers have the greatest need to see the organization as a whole, understand how the various parts of the organization relate to one another and associate the organization to the world outside.

The disturbance handler puts management at the forefront of critical issues that may hinder performance. The resource allocator will require management to understand what sources will be needed, including human capital, to accomplish the organization 's goals. The negotiator role will require management to pull all of these resources together and to collaborate a way to be successful. The skills needed to perform the in the roles listed above does not develop overnight, however.
