MAN 4584 – Process Improvement Methodologies

Assignment Series Project

Week 2 - Assignment 1 This week students need to select a process improvement project to work on during this course. There are four parts to this mini-project that you will do throughout this course (read all four parts due Week 2, 4, 6, and 8 before continuing with this assignment to understand how this breaks down in the coming weeks - link). Students may select something at work (i.e. a process or quality issue that can be pursued to help grow your career) or it may be something that will simply make your life easier at home (i.e. getting ready in the morning/evening for work, cooking a meal, etc.).

America is a place that is all about eating healthy and maintaining a certain size, as it portrays a better image. Everyone has become so obsessed with being model sized but being able to eat at the same time. Allowing consumers the chance to self-serve themselves or have the staff assist them with fresh healthy cooked foods. Being able to choose from fresh fruits and vegetables, which are shipped in from local farmers. For the freshest in season products, shipments will occur at least four times per week. The stores design will…

Successful organizations continuously strive to improve the processes they have in place. Process improvement leads to better quality control, higher efficiencies and lower costs. In order to implement a process improvement plan, it is necessary to collect and analyze data from the process. Process control is a major factor in ensuring that a process is working to its maximum potential. Sometimes process control means that one must conduct research to see how a process improvement can be implemented. Process improvement normally results in adjusting and modifying particular tasks or steps in a process to make them run more efficiently and smoothly. According to Chase, Jacobs, and Aquilliano, it is very important to put metrics in place so that you can determine if improvements are needed for a particular process (Chase, Jacobs, and Aquilliano, 2006). Over the last five weeks, I have observed the task of getting ready for work. After collecting data for analysis, I have enough information to develop a process improvement plan. In this paper, the control limits will be reviewed and any applicable seasonal factors that could impact the historical data will be discussed.…

Healthcare is increasingly consumer driven, thus, providers must develop improvement processes to meet the needs of patient expectations (Bleustein, Rothschild, Valen, Valaitis, Schweitzer & Jones, 2014). Picker Institute (n.d.) developed eight principles that reflect the key values that should guide healthcare practices. As more attention was directed towards outpatient settings, Access to Care was the final principle added.
