Major Storm Creative Writing
Everything was silent at first, as are most moment’s right before a major storm. People were roaming around, minding their own business and going about their days like nothing was wrong. It was quite clear most were trying to rush to get everything accomplished before the downpour, but no one knew how soon it would happen. Suddenly, as young eyes searched around the area for a treat for being a good boy during the trip, the wind suddenly picked up. Papers and leaves blew about, some flying in front of his face. This caused him to let go of the hand he was holding onto so he could rub at his eyes. He heard a voice, but the wind was too loud for him to hear over.

Looking up, he realized too late that he was alone in the crowds with his parents

He was a senior and had college classes as well, but he was sure there would be enough at this school to keep him busy. He would, at least, finally be in the same school with his best friend. He just hoped the rumors hadn’t spread to this school as well. He was hoping for a fresh, clean start, but that was unlikely to happen.

After a shower and putting on his new uniform, he went down to the dining room for breakfast with his parents. He made sure all of his things were ready and in his bag before sitting down, knowing well his parents would ask about it when he sat down. Once he was seated, he placed his napkin on his lap before saying thank you for the food. Picking up his chopsticks, he began to eat, preferring to eat with them rather than normal utensils. If the situation called for other utensils, then he would use them, but his breakfast normally never put him in such a situation.

Breakfast was quite, as it was most mornings, and he soon excused himself after finishing his food. Standing, he slipped his bag on, ready to leave for the day and hoping nothing made his day unbearable. Stopping when he heard his father’s voice, he took in a breath before turning to face the elderly Japanese

My heart ached as I ran and ran, I felt my cheeks burning, swelling, and I was waiting for my whole face to explode. But I couldn’t stop. Running past the trees, which were bracing themselves for the storm, which was brewing over-head. The tree roots creaked at the force of the wind, an icy cold blast hit my face, I felt a sigh of relief when I caught a glimpse of light in the distance. I felt closer to home.…

By the time, they stepped off the front porch the storm breaks, letting loose, with a volley of hail, the size of unshelled, black walnuts. Without hesitation, they scoot towards the Chevy. During the previous day of the hurricane, my dad was working at school when all students and staff were directed to evacuate the campus and prepare for what they knew now was an extremely powerful storm. At that moment, nobody thought that the storm was just going to pass by without harming anyone. People grew frantic, and prayed that the storm would calm down, or turn. Lucky for the people on O’ahu, it did. My father and his parents evacuated to his step-mother’s brother’s house, which was on higher grounds, and much…

My mind is fuzzy, the last remains of a dream being chased away by the realization that I am awake again. It was a nice dream, something about sitting in a big oak tree in a meadow full of flowers but the details are fading faster even as I try to recall them. With a sigh, I allow my brain to focus and cautiously open one eye. The sun was peeking out from the curtains, giving the room a light shade of red mixed with orange. I sat up and looked at the alarm clock beside my bed and saw that it was 6 am. I gave out a loud grown before getting out of the comfy warm…

    A Scream Across The Sky

It was a typical cloudy, rainy and bone chilling day in Manchester, England. All the weather reports called for dangerous winds and drastic flooding. Like any other person that lived in England I knew this was just an ordinary day not expecting the worst. I step outside and start my day like always, with a nice jog around Old Trafford staring in awe every day of the monumental stadium. Today was different because it seemed as if I was the only one outside crazy enough to test Mother Nature. Minding my own business I continue running and this epic downpour of rain hits my head, one I have never felt before. Quickly the streets begin to flood and the traffic lights start whipping back and forth. Finally I hear this terrifying scream come across the sky and knew the weather man must have been right for once. The sky now turns into a blackish grey color with a circle forming with the clouds. I look around desperately to see if any store is open hopefully for me to stay in but of course I am the only one dumb enough to be outside. The historic black fences that surrounded Old Trafford had come off the ground and I thought my life was over. I have never turned around and sprinted back to my apartment faster than I did that hectic day. Fortunately for me several hours later the police had restricted anyone from going outside after learning the storm would be here for the next several days. Seeing my life flash right before my eyes taught me to never doubt the abilities of any weather man especially one in England!…

I told my mother that I was going to the post office hoping to have a letter from my father. My mom said “Miranda, I heard that things should get better soon and this will be all over with, please be quick and be safe, it will all be over soon.” That gave me some hope. I left my skis in the house, knowing what I was going up against. I stepped outside into the blizzard, expecting the worst and not returning home. When I finally got to the post office, I realized that it was closed. Feeling hopeless, I was ready to give up and let the elements take me. But suddenly a flyer blew by me. I snatched the flyer and it said there is a food drive going on at the town hall. I managed to get there; I looked up, strained of all energy. The mayor explained how he was proud of me because I was getting food for my family and thinking of everyone else before myself. Being so exhausted, I looked up at the sky; a patch of blue peeked out at me. I jump up in excitement, an energy rush running through my body. I jump up and down, knowing that things are only going to get better from here knowing that my little brother Johnny and the rest of the family have a chance to survive. The mayor asks what all the excitement was about; I said “look up; there is hope in the air!” He looked up with the rest of the people at city hall in awe, looking hopeful. I had received a ride home to inform my family on the news. Once I told my mother, she cried tears of joy, knowing that everything should be over soon. Johnny screamed in joy, knowing that we all made it. Life will only get better now. This will soon be the life as we knew…
