The goal of strategic capacity planning for Riordan Manufacturing's is to maximize the level of output and return of investment. Riordan Manufacturing's should create a small sister plant to China in Michigan. If we are able to create a scaled down version of the plastic molding machines from the China plant, the plastic polymers safety storage from this facility can become the regular shipment to the Michigan facility. By creating the Michigan mini-facility Riordan Manufacturing could shift the smaller customized fan orders manufacturing and excess polymer inventory from the Hangzhou facility. By reinvesting in the Michigan facility and the United States economy, Riordan Manufacturing will be better equipped to meet the clients demanding more from Riordan’s Pontiac, Michigan location.…

Aggregate planning is the process of developing, analyzing, and maintaining a preliminary, approximate schedule of the overall operations of an organization. The aggregate plan generally contains targeted sales forecasts, production levels, inventory levels, and customer backlogs. This schedule is intended to satisfy the demand forecast at a minimum cost. Properly done, aggregate planning should minimize the effects of short-sighted, day-to-day scheduling, in which small amounts of material may be ordered one week, with an accompanying layoff of workers, followed by ordering larger amounts and rehiring workers the next week. This longer-term perspective on resource use can help minimize short-term requirements changes with a resulting cost savings.…

Such an ambitious strategy required a tremendous speed-up of the entire planning process, ranging from the national sales companies (NSC) to the assembly plants via the headquarters. Let us examine this planning process. At the start of each month, NSCs all over Europe define monthly sales forecasts for every model for years Y and Y+1. Then the headquartered sales department reviews the figures with industrial planners so as to ensure that resulting productions comply with plants' capacities, those of Renault and of its suppliers. The discussion between sales and industrial departments may lead to the upgrading of industrial capabilities or to the lowering of sales…

This paper aims to apply linear optimization to production planning in the “Procesadora Torre Blanca” along the year 2011 with the objective of minimizing production costs and maintain inventories, taking into consideration the seasonal demand which has to be a company in the agribusiness and capacity constraints of machines, direct labor and inventory. For this purpose was the calculation of demand forecasting with a simple linear regression and the method of seasonal patterns. In developing the theme will be used mainly 2 programs computing such as Minitab 16, to calculate the coefficient of determination and general regression equation in addition to the LINDO 6.1, for solving the problem of linear programming. Currently working on an empirical and qualitative production scheduling in the company, so the use of linear programming is a great help when planning the production quantities of each product per month and thus have an optimal basis can be implemented thereafter.
