Machine, Pawn Of The Universe, And The Biblical View
There are different views on humanity including machine, animal, pawn of the universe, and the Biblical view. Although each different, the views have similarities that can be compared allowing for more knowledge on the subjects. Through understanding each of the views deeper we can have better conversations with other people who may hold the same or different worldview as us.
The machine and animal view on humanity are being highlighted. The machine view holds the belief that humans are worth only as much as they can preform in their tasks. In the work environment, humans are treated as robots, determining who can preform better, be accurate, not demand pay raises, and allows the company to excel due to accuracy. Each being was created in the image and likeness of God. Humans were thoughtfully created by a God that is purposeful, aware, loving, intelligent, and infinite. Erikson says “whatever sets humans apart from the rest of creation, they alone are capable of having a conscious personal relationship with the Creator and of responding to Him” (4221). God did not create humans by mistake, instead He carefully designed each in with a uniqueness, reflecting His image. God knows each of His children by name even while they were being created. Psalm 139:13-15 says “For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately women in the depths of the earth” (English Standard Version). This view believes that humans are worth more and it is a less distorted than the other views. The love and thoughtfulness God has for His children shows how much He values each and every one of them, not matter how they can perform. In Ephesians 2:8-10 it says “for it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared us in advance for us to do” (English Standard Version). Because God created humans so specifically, He cares for them so much that He gave humans a chance at an eternal
