Macbeth

Physical description and traits: Macbeth is ambitious, as well as superstitious, he is known for his military prowess, boldness and bravery. He is peerless, affectionate, loyal, dominant in imposing stern terms upon he vanquished. He is hubris, as well as an opportunist. He has a conscience, which hinders him at first in securing the crown.
Role in Play: Macbeth is the protagonist, he is also the tragic hero.
Role in the Plot: Macbeth plays the role of an ambitious character that murders Duncan in order to secure the crown, during the play, he fluctuates between murderous fevered action and moments of terrible guilt.

Lady Macbeth

Physical descriptions and traits: She is described as “fair” by King Duncan, but like Macbeth, she is also ambitious, imperious, perceptive, and resolute. She is conscienceless and is described as a character that is masculine or lacking characteristics of femininity.
She is Macbeth’s wife, like him, she has the same goal, power. She later plays as a foil for Macbeth when her strong personality begins to deteriorate.
Role in Plot: Without Lady Macbeth, Macbeth would never have pursued the murder of Duncan, he wouldn’t have pursued his ambitiousness. She lacks kindness, unlike Macbeth, and “nags” him until he kills Duncan.

Witches
Three Weird Sisters

Physical description and traits: They’re first described as “bearded” by Banquo and seemed “not human.” They are old, lame, and pale. They’re the three “black and midnight hags” who plot mischief against Macbeth using charms, spells, and prophecies.

Role in Story: These Witches are the Antagonists
Role in Plot: The sisters cause Macbeth to pursue his ambition by providing prophecies.
