Macbeth, by William Shakespeare, is one of the greatest Shakespearean tragedies written in the 18th century, a drama full of murder and revenge. This leads to ghosts, hallucinations, more murders, and other unnatural events, eventually resulting in the downfall of Macbeth. Macbeth develops and changes greatly, from a loyal, trustworthy person to a corrupted and murderous man throughout the course of the play. Many factors affected the shaping of the character of Macbeth, including the witches’ prophecies and foil character, Banquo. This character…

Macbeth is a play filled with murders and lies, but it is not the murderer who is responsible for the most evil in the play. The main character Macbeth kills two important characters in the play, and is responsible for the death of a third. Macbeth is still only the instrument carrying out these evil actions. Other main characters in the play are the three Weird sisters, or the three witches. They are supernatural creatures that prophesize that Macbeth will become Thane of Cawdor and eventually king. They stir Macbeth’s ambition to ascend the throne. Lady Macbeth is Macbeth’s strategic wife that plans the murder of King Duncan. She uses Macbeth’s ambition to acquire more power. Lady Macbeth is responsible for the most evil in the play because she convinces Macbeth to kill the king, and sends Macbeth on a path of destruction.…
The Unveiling of the Motives of 2 Cruel Men Richard III and Macbeth. Richard the III and Macbeth were two men who wanted to rule the world. They both had evil instincts and would go to any extent to gain ultimate power. Both of them used violence as a method to get rid of whoever was in their way of their goal this would include no hesitation in killing their close ones be it their friends or family members. Richard the 3rd being handicapped by birth was power hungry which cause him to resent the power of his older brother King Edward IV. The fact that he was crippled by birth brought utter bitterness to Richard which might be a reason why he was always wanting to snatch other peoples positions especially that of his own brother. On the other hand Macbeth is a story again of an evil ruler who has the same intentions as Richard the III and has the same amount of power hunger but his fortunes are slaves to witches meaning that what the witches predict usually comes true and it because of them that he aquires power and not solely by his own efforts. This is Unlike Richard the III in a way that he didnt have witches predicting his future and there was no third party force affecting hos intentions other than himself.…

The first part of the quote is a simile and the second part is a metaphor. Macbeth is reluctant to murder the king. But Lady Macbeth, driven by ambition, instigates him to kill Duncan when he is asleep. She tells him to put on an appearance of innocence but be as venomous as the snake that hides behind it. "be thou the serpent under it" is a metaphor because the word of comparison is absent and both Macbeth and Serpent are spoken of as one and the same. By doing this, it gives the reader a sense of just how evil and two-faced Macbeth is told to be.…

Supernatural creatures exist only in our conscious mind. In the play "Macbeth," there are many interesting events which could be reviewed to show how supernatural events affect someone’s thoughts. First, in the play, Macbeth make his way to the witches and they give him three apparitions. The first apparition says "Macbeth!, Macbeth!, Macbeth!, beware of Macduff; beware thane of Fife. Dismiss me: enough." (IV.1.71-73). Here it gives Macbeth the idea that he should fear Macduff because he’s a threat to Macbeth’s authority. It’s important to know that Shakespeare this fantasy to portray a supernatural occurrence that makes the character think deeper. Second, Macbeth is aware of tragedies that may happen to him. In Shakespearean time, they believe in existence of witches because of unproven tragedies that occasionally happens in the Castle. Macbeth says “Into the air; and what seem'd corporal melted as breath into the wind. Would they had stay'd"Banquo: Were such things here as we do speak about, or have we eaten on the insecure root. That takes the reason prisoner.” (Act 1 Scene 3 Line 82-86) after the appearance of the witches giving predictions. Macbeth is saying where did the witches go, they just vanished into thin air. The quote by Banquo is saying do these witches exist or are we on some special herb. Two examples of the theme supernatural is the witches and the predictions they made for Macbeth and Banquo.…
