Key Problem
Under a bad situation, the dilemma is how to make a market entry in Russia successfully
MABE, which initially produced kitchen cabinets, was founded in 1946. It has succeeded in expanding range of products to fridges and stoves in a wider business scope in Central
America, the Caribbean,Maxico, Latin American and the U.S. Considering the future development, MABE thought of establishing joint venture in Russia because Russia was the
‘last frontier’ with good opportunity and conditions in the future, such as the largest population, a highly educated workforce, unlimited energy and resources and so on. But when the financial crises were coming, the advantages were broken down. Facing this bad situation,Mabel was wondering how to succeed in entering Russia market?

Porter’s Five Forces Analysis
Rivalry (low): MABE has been the largest manufacturer in Latin America and commands a strong position in the U.S market. In Russian market, Indesit, Bosch-Siemens and LG who produce locally can be a threat to them in terms of rivalry.

Bosch-Siemens, Samsung, Electrolux means that the buyers have a lot of options to choose from and they can easily switch from one firm to another.
Threat of Substitute (low): The appliances that MABE manufacturers cannot be substituted easily as they are now essential household items. The technology can be changed but the

CASE DESCRIPTION The primary subject matter of this case concerns the management of international joint ventures. Secondary issues examined include: business in Russia; government’s intervention in business and how it affects multinational companies; market entry and modes of market entry decisions;; and dimensions and elements of culture (Fang 2003). The case has a difficulty level appropriate for first or second year graduate level. The case is designed to be taught in one class hour and is expected to require one hour of outside preparation by students. CASE SYNOPSIS BP, one of the largest publicly listed oil companies in the world, had been operating in Russia since 1997, initially through minority stakes in Russian oil companies and, since 2003, through TNK-BP, a 50-50 joint venture with AAR, a consortium of Russian investors. This joint venture allowed BP access to extensive oil reserves in Russia and was one of BP’s most valuable assets, accounting for 25% of BP’s production in 2007. In 2008, BP and its partners in TNK-BP encountered serious disagreements about how to run the company. A string of government actions including raids by the Russian tax police on both BP and TNK-BP’s offices in Russia concluded with the cancelation of TNK-BP’s British CEO’s work visa by Russian immigration authorities. Although BP and its partners reached an agreement in principle to renew the board of TNK-BP and appoint a new CEO in December 2008, by February 2009 they had not been able to appoint a Chief Executive acceptable to both parties. INTRODUCTION In May 2009 TNK-BP, a 50-50 joint venture between BP, one of the major western oil companies, and Alfa Access/Renova, a…

Genie, also known as the "wild child", spent her childhood locked in a bedroom. She was uncivilized, barely able to walk or talk. When she was found in her room, at age thirteen, she was still in diapers. She was so isolated that she didn't even know how to talk. She sat alone in a room day after day with no one to talk to and not much to look at. She acted as an infant because that's all she had known.…

Attending college has always been a dream of mine. The obstacles that I’ve had to face throughout my life are what drive me to continue my education and become successful. I have learned to deal with the unknown at a very young age due to my adoption. For an adoptee, everyday is a challenge trying to figure out who you are, how to act and what to become. I have never quite fit in with my friends, but I hope to find my niche at Campbell University. Another struggle of mine was being diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) during my freshman year of high school. Due to IBS, I deal with new challenges everyday dealing with stress and anxiety. I could tell you all the negative side effects that come along with my struggles, but I tend to focus on the positive side effects. My adoption and my heath issues have strengthened me in a tremendous way. I continue to push and challenge myself everyday and I’ve learned to never give up. Volunteering helps me cope with my struggles. I have participated in the Key Club, Interact Club and Friends for Friends. I recently received the Triple “C” Award, which is the recognition of my commitment, character and courage that I’ve displayed throughout the year. This award is a great achievement that I am very proud of because it lets me know that hard work really does pay off. Martin Luther King once said, “Everything that is done in the world is done by hope.” Everyday this reminds me to never lose hope in even the darkest of days.…
