If I was to cast the poem as a movie I would cast Tichina Arnold as the mother, because she is a vibrate actress and Arnold could easily change from her professional voice to her mom's voice. Most of the role Arnold has played is like the mother in the poem, the mother is strong and professional, but at the same time the mother is loving and cares about her child. Arnold has had roles like Pam on the TV show "Martin" and the mother on the TV show "Everybody Hates Chris" and these characters have the some characteristics of the mother in the poem. The actor that I would cast for the role of the father is Terry Crew. Crew has already played such a role and it was in the TV shoe "Everybody Hates Chris". Crew was a strong, fun, and construction…

Hellllloooo gsfgggggggggggggggg"Advance Australia Fair" is the official national anthem of Australia. Created by the Scottish-born composer Peter Dodds McCormick, the song was first performed in 1878 but did not gain its status as the official anthem until 1984. Until then the song was sung in Australia as a patriotic song. In order for the song to become the anthem it had to face a vote against the Royal Anthem ("God Save the Queen"), "Waltzing Matilda" (the "unofficial anthem") and "Song of Australia". Other songs and marches have been influenced by "Advance Australia Fair", such as the Australian vice-regal salute.…

    Bob James: Song Analysis

Every song tells its own unique story; however the stories they tell are often up to interpretation. Bob James, the creator of the song Orpheus, wrote the song based on his interpretation of the myth. The music of Bob James continued to evolve and captivate audiences thought the world. Discovered by Quincy Jones at the Notre Dame Jazz Festival in 1963, Bob recorded his first solo album, Bold Conceptions, that year for Mercury Records. 36 more solo albums would follow through four decades; that number is just to date and does not include his Grammy award winning collaboration projects (bobjames.com). In 1985 Bob moved to Warner Bros Records and began that association with another million sellers and Grammy winner, Double Vision, his collaboration with David Sanborn, produced by Tommy LiPuma. It was in 1990 while recording his Grand Piano Canyon album that Bob reunited with his old friend, drummer Harvey Mason, Jr. and worked for the first time with…

    Catcher in the Rye Song

    • 386 Words

After looking at quite a few songs and their lyrics, I found that the song “Yesterday” by the Beatles represented well a few of Holden’s situations on The Catcher in the Rye. The song expresses the emotions Holden feels for Jane. In The Catcher in the Rye, Holden remembers the relationship he once had with Jane and how it was so simple, and how happiness came so easily when he was with her. Like on page 79 of the novel, Holden says, "You never even worried with Jane... All you knew was, you were happy” The lyrics in the song also say "Yesterday, love was such an easy game to play." It was so easy for Holden before, but now he struggles to enjoy relationships with girls and he misses the past when love was only about being happy. The thought of Jane dating someone else drives him crazy, so when he finds out that Stradlater was out with Jane, and that they were in Ed Bankey’s car together, he runs away from school alone. The line "Now I need a place to hide away" in the song represents that situation pretty well. After Holden realizes that all the happy times he had with Jane are in the past and always will be, he gets really sad and wants to hide from the world, and he hopes to hold on to his memory of "yesterday." I believe that the song "Yesterday" represents really well Holden's feelings for the past when Jane and him were together.…

“Talking shit about a pretty sunset,” is a song that portrays an overall apathetic outlook on life. The listener can clearly hear the discontent expressed in the words sung and the execution in the music. Thoughts of suicide, phobia of commitment, lack and gain of motivation, fixation and illusions of a better life are all present. Through the complex breaks and climax of the song, tells an emotional story of revelation, realization and self-actualization.…

    Bicol Dances

"Si Nanay, Si Tatay" is probably the best known Bikol song. And, with the possible exception of "Sarung Banggi," it is also the best loved. Although its lyrics have been criticized by some as maudlin and even gruesome in part, its haunting melody has made it a perennial favorite not only as a song but also as a dance piece. The humor in the last stanza should relieve whatever oversentimentality may be objected to in the preceding ones. Like many others of our old Bikol songs, there are slightly varying…
