Inoue and Liu (2015) researched Japanese’s and U.S. patents records to compare team collaborations versus solo inventions. Although team collaborations are stronger, it’s best to utilize short term rather than long term. The analysis provides efforts of team size and experience as it relates to performance levels. One of the downfalls is the excessive repeat collaborations. Teams need to consist of diverse people. To promote new and innovative ideas, teams are encouraged to make adjustments when starting new projects. Teams need to consist of diverse people. Rotating responsibility and allowing each person to take the lead on projects creates confidence and motivation. Nurturing a culture that allows for innovation garners success. ( Wojcicki, 2011). A good example of team innovation is Google. The company maintains the spirit of innovation year after year. They believe working goes beyond being a job when you get the feeling it stands for something you care about. Google focuses on how to implement the next product and/or service. They weigh the advantages of inventing brand new products or improving on the existing ones. The outcome; they believe in doing both, and learning while they do it. In looking on this practice, I reflect upon my years in high school. Students were required to change classes and establish study groups for each subject. I encountered many challenges while…

Since time is crucial in this case, we see a need to decrease the time of decision making process and re-defining communication channels between the departments. We also argue that the size of this team as well as the fact that the teammates came from four different departments created complex communication channels that slowed down decision making. In this case, small groups can undertake better the urgent tasks. Hence, we think that Richardson should break the complex process of launching a new product into micro-processes. We believe that by brainstorming with the heads of every department separately, defining criteria and performance standards, and listening to each team’s requirements and reservations, Richardson will be able to clarify for the teams their importance to the company and motivate them to act toward the company’s goal. Commitment to a common goal is more easily achieved if the number of team members is small (Essentials for an Effective Team,…

Arthur Rock says, “If you can find good people, they can always change the product. Nearly every mistake I’ve made has been I picked the wrong people, not the wrong idea.” [ (Timmons & Spinelli) ] An entrepreneurial team is a critical ingredient for success.…

Common wisdom dictates that if the best people are put together, a high performance team would inevitably result. Traditionally, the most skilled people, therefore, would be selected for the team. This approach is still prevalent in most organisations and there are many examples: a committee which comprises distribution experts; and urban redevelopment task force which comprises the best architects in the field. In all these cases, people are chosen for their membership of teams because of the job and task skills they possess; in other words, because of the functional role they perform. It has been found, however, that such an approach does not guarantee success. While it may be necessary that a team should comprise people who have relevant knowledge in the task area, it has been discovered that factors other than technical ability were more important in determining the success of a team.…

I would also conduct in depth research on competitors and their products. This is so we won’t create a duplicate product. Put this into action by first organizing all contributing team members. Assign each team according to ideas that have been implemented as well as assigning a role to focus on. This is to make sure that each team is meeting their goal results and assisting each other. Each team member will be assigned a section and interaction with each other will be on a need basis as opposed to according to rank.…
