Low Back Pain: A Case Study
DOI: 5/13/2016. Patient is a 53-year old male who sustained a work related injury to his low back when he was emptying trash and lifted heavy bag. The patient is subsequently diagnosed with low back pain. As per medical report dated 7/13/16, patient complains of low back pain that goes into bilateral paraspinal area. The pain is worsened with activity and improves with rest. It occurred while lifting a 30-pound bag. The pain is worsened with activity and improves with rest. It occurred while lifting a 30-pound bag. It was also noted that the patient had prior left foot injury in 2014, in which therapy has helped. The patient is using Tylenol. Lumbar range of motion revealed 40 degrees of flexion, 10 degrees of extension, right lateral bending

    First I have the client perform active free range of motion (AFROM) of the spine to the limit of their pain in a standing position. They present with pain on both sides when performing extension of the lumbar spine. Second I have the client supine on the table and perform passive relaxed range of motion (PRROM) to the point of any pain.
