Love and Loving Kindness Works
Loving-kindness is defined as an openhearted nurturing to ourselves and others. The golden rule says, “Treat others just the way you want to be treated.” Kindness and compassion are all qualities that live in humans. By practicing kindness toward others we give a gift to ourselves and it has benefits just by doing it.
There is a scientific evidence for why loving kindness works. Our emotions are shaped by our thoughts. Our loving-kindness practice helps us to feel more positive, kind, and patient toward ourselves, so that we can be more compassionate and loving toward others. Opening our hearts to others in a kindness way can lower stress levels and it makes us happier. Also, practicing this can create friendship and not judging other people.
The practice of compassion starts at home. Maybe one of your family members might irritate you the most and you can begin your practice of loving-kindness and compassion with them. Then gradually you extend your compassion out into the community. Extending compassion in this way makes it not very easy to have compassion for all sinful beings but when we actually try to generate compassion for each and every individual, it becomes much more challenging.
The Bible teaches us to love your enemies and do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you. To one who strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also, and from one who takes away your cloak do not withhold your tunic either. Give to everyone who begs from you, and from one who takes away your goods do not demand them back and as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them in Luke 6:27-31. There is another verse in John 13:34 that says, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.” This verse means that God loves us and we too have to love others. We will have God’s blessing by obeying God’s command.
Another beneficial gift is that the more

“Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.” (Leo F. Buscaglia) A simple act of kindness can ease one’s fears, touch one’s heart, and rekindle one’s faith in humanity. Kind behavior is among one of the most significant features a human can possess, however, as our lives become cluttered with all the burdens of our society, it becomes easy to lose track of what we live for. When my teacher presented the three acts of kindness project to us, I started to question whether I have been selfish or selfless in my everyday motives. I came to realize that performing random acts of kindness is something that needs to be incorporated more in my life on a regular basis. Therefore, I was eager to get started with my 3 acts.…

In Matthew 5:43-48, Jesus is teaching that one should love their enemies. In order to love an enemy, Jesus requires us to "Love" our enemies, not hate them. He wants us to show good will towards our enemies. “Bless” those who curse us. Even if someone speaks evil of us, we are to speak kind words to them. “Do good” to those that hate us. There may be people that do not like us for various reasons. We are to treat them like we want to be treated no matter what they do to us. “Pray” for those who spitefully use us and persecute us. We are to pray for our enemies, not just about them, but for their well-being and their salvation.…

Jesus also gave a rule of conduct which is applicable in all lands and in all ages, namely: "Whatever you wish that men would do to you, do so to them; for this is the law and the prophets." (Matthew 7:12). Because of its great value this has often been called the "Golden Rule". This perfect and complete principle does not forbid doing wrong to others, rather it encourages doing all the good to others that we would like them to do to us.…

Staying out of your comfort zone and doing things with people that harm you and people you would normally never be around is a great way to be compassionate. The only way to get to where being compassionate towards everyone is to practice and continue to live an unselfish life. Showing empathy towards people good or bad and remembering that just like me, everyone wants to be happy and not to suffer. So by following what the Dalai Lama says I would try to help anybody that is suffering to be happy no matter the cost to my own…

An act of kindness can develop values for both the person receiving the aid and the person offering the support as well as community development. In this summary key points are discussed on altruism. The summary stems from an act of kindness, which was conducted by the author as a student of Capstone Course in Psychology/Psy 490. I presented money to a person who needed money for his or her next meal, without expecting anything in return. A person does not realize the degree of emotions involved in experiencing need nor true concern until he or she begins to offer support with no desire of reward.…

Buddhism places the utmost value upon compassion. Buddhism teaches the purpose of each individual's life is to experience happiness. All happiness and suffering is either mental or physical; the mental is the most important kind, for it affects us the most. If we are able to develop compassionate behaviour, we will experience more inner peace and happiness, both mentally and physically. The Dalai Lama says that…

However you could argue that the Bible also seems to give priority to law over love or that Christian love comes down to obeying Gods laws. For example ‘Thou shalt have no other Gods before me’ so of course Christians are going to love God as they aren’t allowed to love any other. Neither can they take his name in vein, what I’m trying to get to is that the only Christians that truly love their neighbor as their self and love their enemies are those that completely obey God’s commandments and claim to do it through love, but could it really be because they don’t want to be judged by God at the end of their life, that they want to secure their place in paradise. Therefore if the other laws weren’t…

The Christian bible has many examples from both the old and New Testament that gives examples of Jesus wanting all his followers to treat each other in a just way. E.g. when he came across a lady who had been caught in the act of adultery and the crowds wanted to stone her to death and Jesus reminded them that they were all guilty of sin and they he who had not sinned should cast the first stone. Jesus throughout the many encounters with believers and non-believers has spread the message of justice and peace.…

According to Paul’s teachings in the book of Romans 1 and 2, human beings are bound to making mistakes daily, and time these mistakes are sins which they affect others. These effects could cause a change in the relationship between people because others feel offended. Another way is being revealed in this book by Paul is when some other people like in churches feel they are more important and special than others; this also affects the relationship of a human. Relationship of human also is affected by the fact that others could oppress others thus making them feel unequal yet this should not be this way because all humans are equal and resemble the image of God thus should interact happily. Since as humans God created us and was resemble His image, we should love each and interact happily with everyone as seen in Romans 3. Humans beings should not hurt or kill others instead they should help correct, help each, and create a happy relationship as per the teachings in the book of…

In Paul Ford’s, “How to Be Polite,” he discusses the lessons he has learned over the years on how to be an undeniably pleasant person. He gives examples from times throughout his life where kindness has come into play. Ford shares experiences from high school, where politeness went unnoticed and, for the most part, unrewarded. However, later in life kindness helped him in the workplace and in social scenes. He also mentions that politeness has helped him look at people in a vulnerable way, that each and every one of them has problems that are unknown to others.…
