Love and Faith
Love and Faith
There is an incredible relationship between Love and Faith. They are inseparable. Let’s compare their roles and their relationship to each other:

What Love Does

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. (emphasis added)

God’s love gives to the world, so that they can have faith in Him.

When we operate in God’s love we give. Walking in God’s love is God’s motivation to change the world, to endure all obstacles, and to exhibit his will to the world.

I John 4:12 No one has seen God at any time; if we love one another, God abides in us, and His love is perfected in us.

When we walk in God’s love the world sees Him in us. His love is exhibited in us.

Love and faith work together

I Corinthians 13:7 (Love) bears all things, (Love) believes all things, (Love) hopes all things, (Love) endures all things. (8) Love never fails

God’s love in our hearts actually does the believing.

Eph 5:2 walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us….

Romans 5:5 ..hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

Love turns our hopes into faith.

What Faith Does

I John 5:4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world– our faith. (emphasis added)

Our faith overcomes the world, so that the love of God may abound.

When we operate in faith we are overcomers. Faith is God’s method of changing the world, to overcome all obstacles, and to enforce his will in the world.

I John 5:5 Who is the one who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

When we walk in faith the world sees His authority in us.

Love and faith work together

Jude 20 But you beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, (21) keeping

Besides, Jesus already defeated them, making a public spectacle of them (Col. 2:13-15), and has made those who believe and obey His Gospel more than conquerors (Ro. 8:37). We have gained a surpassing victory because the Father in Heaven set His love upon us through His beloved Son. By God’s grace through faith, we have been made joint-heirs with Christ Jesus the Lord, and He is not ashamed to call us His brothers and sisters (Ro. 8:17; Heb. 2:11). This book focuses on just that—living in this world as joint heirs with Christ, as more than conquerors through His love for…

All of the teachings of Jesus can be summed up in the one word "love." The love of Jesus Christ was perfect love, and he commanded his disciples to love one another as he loved them. Christians well know that they do not have this Christlike love in themselves, but when they remember how Christ loved them and died for them, they in turn will love others. The Spirit of Christ is the Spirit…

Some may argue that the greatest love story to date is Romeo and Juliet: the love; the passion; the unlikely pair. Although Romeo and Juliet may be a great tale of two unlikely lovers, it could never compare to Our Christian Story. However, throughout these two renowned stories, elements of love and sacrifice can be demonstrated frequently. Out of love, we are able to make sacrifices for those whom which we hold dear to our hearts; when humanity betrayed God by consuming fruit from the forbidden tree, He displayed an unconditional love by sending His only son, Jesus Christ, to absolve us from sin. This represents a vital bond of love that has, over time, remained between God and humanity, but to experience this bliss we must freely embrace…

Let’s look at the spiritual dimension of love. Many scriptures in the Bible speak of it. “For God so love the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever shall believeth in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16. This verse in the Bible clearly states that God sent His son, Jesus Christ to the world to take care of our transgressions and our iniquities. Another verse in the Bible is a verse that all should be familiar with, considering it is one of the Ten Commandments. “Thou shalt not avenge, not bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself: I am the Lord.” Leviticus 19:18. Many songs express the love of God or express how much His children love Him. “I love you Lord, and I lift my voice, to worship you, oh my soul, rejoice! Take joy, my King, in what You hear, and let it be a sweet, sweet sound in Your ear.” This song brings back memories for me because I remember I would go to church when I was a little girl, and I would hear my mother sing this song in the choir stands, and when we would go home, it would stay stuck in my head all day. This song and many more songs not only reminded me of how much I love God, but how much I love others around me.…
