Many shows or movies that society watches, can harm the youth in a negative way. The media can come from a variety of entertainment like Reality shows, cartoons, and music videos. The media has a lot to do with this because it is promoting violence and harmful things that can corrupt a youths mind. The media can have a negative impact that will teach them to use profanity, drugs, sex, crimes and disrespecting their parents. Not only can it bring a negative impact, but also portray a negative image of African American males and females. The media now can be prejudice to African American’s in ways that will make them look like thugs, lazy, and just violent people. Living in the 21st century, everything we watch or hear on TV is very different from the past. For example in the 1950-1970’s, profanity couldn’t be used to show express laughter or drama, 2000-2012 has a lot of profanity being used. The negative influence that television brings on society is so outrages that people will try to live their life as a celebrity. Some may try to carry themselves in an erratically behavior, which will have them following in the wrong footsteps. To see the youth fall under the influence to follow many rappers, celebrities, or reality stars that are portraying a negative impact. The purpose for choosing this topic is to show and state how the media affects the society and youth. The media haves a negative impact to our society by promoting a lot of things that should not be shown or heard. I’m Going deeper on this research to see how the society is being influence by the negative events that is going on around the world. I feel that the media now can show a lot of things that can really prevent others from being successful. So the main question will be, why this topic is important? This topic is very important because everything we watch is now making other people stereotype each other, copy what they see and will have our youth confuse on what is right and wrong.
