Losing My Best Friend

One day when I was at school, a new girl had come into the school district and had decided to come to our school. Her name was Hailey Witlow. It was a few days before I had gone up to her and talked to her. But, I'm glad I did because after that day, nothing could separate us. We were like a nail and a hammer, peas and carrots, brother and sister. We were going to be friends forever.

We would hang out everyday, and every time that we could. We didn't have many classes together, well really we didn't have any classes together. Which made me upset but, we still hung out in the mornings, recess, lunch, after school, and before classes. She was one of the closest friends that I've ever had. She was so caring, kinda, funny, and trustful. I told her everything about my life and she did the same.

Nothing, and I mean nothing, could separate us at all. But, that's what I thought. Before she told me that she was moving away to Bloomington. I was so shocked and blown away. I asked her why she was moving and she said that her foster parent's got a job acceptance there that pays well.

I was really sad for awhile, but then I got over it and told her that we needed to spend as much time as possible together. So, from then on we did everything at every time together until she had to leave. When she left I was really sad because I was probably never going to see her again. Which made me really upset. A few days after she had left she hadn't texted me, emailed me, or messaged me on Facebook. I was worried if I had done something to make her angry before she left.

I became very angry because it had been a month after she left and there was still nothing. So I had texted her asking if we were still friends. And for the first time she said something back. She texted back that we are friends and wondering why I was so angry. I told her that I had been doing everything to try and reach

We finally moved to North Carolina and I was devastated. I felt like I had to leave behind all of the friends I had just started formulating deeper bonds with. I felt like I had to start over from scratch with making friends and I missed Khalif; and finding out that he contacted me the night before we moved and I missed his call, didn't make things any easier. I never told him I was moving when I found out. I figured since we wasn’t together anymore, why bother. He found out my last day of school because my best friend and I were crying, and another student went back and told him. He approached me before the day was over, and wanted to know why I didn’t tell him I was moving. After we talked, he gave me a hug. I didn’t expect him to try to contact me that night. I didn’t find out he had called until my family and I were well in NC and I checked the caller ID box.…

I chose to walk in the garden as I know it was a place that Mrs B enjoyed being. So I took afternoon tea out into the summer house and asked if she would like a walk in the garden. We looked and chatted about the flowers as we walked to the summer house. We had afternoon tea listening to the birds and relaxing. I explained gently and in simple terms that we had had a phone call and unfortunately her friend had died. Mrs B said she was shocked but at least he had not suffered. We spoke briefly of how kind he had been to her and how much she would miss him. We chatted briefly and I asked Mrs B if she wanted time to herself. She said she did so I took her to her room. I asked if she needed anything and she said no she would be fine. I held her hand briefly, said I was sorry to hear her news and would pop back…

She was leaving her family is what you said. She lives fifteen minutes away and you see her every week. You know what I told you, "at least she's making herself happy. That counts for something right?" But I "wasn't being comforting enough". I was trying to get you to not hate your own mother and "I wasn't being supportive." I was always there for you, you weren't there for me. When my dad was yelling and screaming at me and treating me like shit, you know what you said "yeah..." Or "oh..." Because I was complaining, and that bothered you. I tried to comfort you the best way I know how, and I'm sorry that wasn't enough for…

When I think about now I was really harsh on her I don’t know why exactly I did that, but I guess my anger took over my emotions. It was even more awkward when we were at the hotel, whenever she said something I really wanted to talk back, but I just couldn’t at all. The feeling knowing she is leaving and never coming back hurt me a lot, but she never saw it, because my anger was covering what I really felt inside.…

In first grade, it was my first year in public school so I didn’t have as much friends as the the people that were in kindergarten last year. When I walked into the room, both of my parents on each of my side they introduced to my teacher then I sat in the empty seat. The person assigned to sit next was a girl named Chloe. At first sight, I mesmerized by the amount of silly bands she had. At that moment I knew I had to be her friend.…

We had hung out over the summer nonstop and were extremely close. That first week we did not see each other much during the school day. All our classes seemed to be different except our lunch periods. This friend was someone I trusted and let influence me, for better or worse.…

Hey, I know we haven’t talked to each other or seen each other in a while, but I’ve been doing a lot of thinking lately and I want you to know I miss you. I regret what happened. I want to see you again. I just miss you. I just miss you. I miss you. It is so strange that someone I knew so well, is now a total stranger to me. That sometimes I go entire days without thinking about you. Most of the time I let myself forget because it is easier. But I find something, a photo, a gift, and the stupid love letters we used to give to each other. The full weight of what is being tossed crushes down on me. Part of me wants to see you again, hold you again, and all of those feelings become empty thought. When I look back at it now, remembering that love isn’t always what it seems. It is just so easy to forget, but this isn’t regret. We had our reasons for ending it and they were as valid as ever. But back at the start, back when it all began, we didn’t need any reasons to fall in love. We just did. The reasons came at the end……
