Lord of the Flies Persuasive Essay
John Locke was an English philosopher in the seventeen century. He was considered as one of the most highly influential and important enlightenment thinkers of all history. He wrote about political philosophy, epistemology, and education. Locke's writings helped found modern Western philosophy and made an enormous impact. In 1690, he wrote “The Second Treatise,” which compromised an idea of society based on natural rights and contract theory. In this portion of work, he came up with revolutionary ideas that influenced numerous societies, including Americans. Locke’s arrogance completely shaped and helped our community through his thoughts of society and individual requirements so that America was an effective, successful country. There are numerous beliefs on a man’s perspective. One, they are either born evil or two, they are born “nature good.” The belief that man is born evil is an outrage thought. On the other hand, the belief that man is born good and is dishonored by society though, is not. A philosopher that can agree with this idea is John Locke. “Locke believed that everyone was born with a blank slate and that what you experience determines if you are good or evil.” Now in my beliefs, I think that man is born good, with a clean slate and society is what corrupts man to evil. John Locke is accurate in what he believes in. Knowledge does determine whether if man is good or evil and society does take place as taking the role in corrupting humans. There are many great examples that can set this idea true. On November 2nd 2004, Dr. Phillipe Cunningham, caught his 16 year old son smoking pot and the very next day his son was expelled from his school for stabbing a fellow classmate with a knife. "Ryan was a good boy, but just started hanging out with the wrong crowd"("Watch out for your teens"). A human can come from a well raised family, and then there can be a possibility that humanity can change you in a cruel way and turn people evil and bad.
