Despite the fact that the Australian Imperial force in the First World War ought to have a reputation as successful fighting force, it displayed the worst disciplinary record away from the frontline when the compared with other authority forces and other British army. This paper will examine the relationship between the AIF indiscipline and the advantaged position they held of being the sole force impervious to the death penalty, with an exception of insubordination, disloyal activities, and absconding a rival. These activities influenced proportionally a high number of absentees and abandonments within the ranks of the AIF. The Australian government was reluctant to impose field punishment and impose penalties to hold their military forces accountable. There were instances of self-maiming or commitment of military crimes by those who wanted to avoid front line duties. This paper will explore various levels of indiscipline of AIF within the background of war on the Western Front and their disciplinary code of operation. That does not mean that other forces were fully disciplined. No, they were there, but AIF‘s indiscipline was stupendous and protected by their government.…
In 1991 the RUF, (Revolutionary United Front) was established in Sierra Leone with the intent to change the government, but the only motivations it seemed to have were loot, power, and glory. The RUF’s fighting quickly became extremely violent. Using child soldiers, torture, and amputation the government responded with the same tactics.…

Cannons to the left cannons to the right that's what the six hundred saw when they came into the valley of death. The six hundred also known as the lighting brigade knew they where surrounded by death on all sides. Two reasons that the lighting brigade showed immense courage and bravery are they did not back down nor did they surrender.…
In my personal opinion, I think that the Generals assemblage was a great success. Many websites and a book that I have looked at said that the statue gives off a humorous feel than serious. Most serious sculptures would only depict one rider on a steed, whereas the Generals has two men (one being our country's Founding Father and the other Simón Bolívar, the political and military leader of Venezuela). It is also to be noted that the way the horse is depicted in the statue--it is very comical. Marisol did not take the time to carefully craft out a noble steed, but rather created it out of a barrel. The barrel was then mounted on legs that used to belong to a once ordinary table with wheels.…
By the end of the victorious civil war, a third of the African American armies out of the estimated 180,000 enlisted until 1965, had perished in the battle fields (A+E Networks, 1). During the 1862, the second black militia group was absorbed into the Union army in Louisiana by major general Butler Benjamine led by their own black lieutenants and captains and was to be known as the Louisiana…

“Khadr’s father took him to visit al Qaeda leaders when he was 10 and to a military training camp when he was 15.” (Andrea Prasow, page 3) What this evidence suggests is that some of these children were, and are, influenced by family to join a military when they are younger than the age of 18. There are cruel man and women in this world and they will use anyone, even children, to get what they want. People have chances to take second chances that have been laid out in front of them, but they decide not to take the chance. “We only had two things to survive [an AK-47 and a big package of cocaine]” says a former child soldier named Ishmael. He knows what it’s like to get a second chance from the horrors that he had caused. The world today is a jungle and we as people get a second…

Grace Halleck 1st hour Why was the Reign of Terror not justified? The Reign of Terror was not justified because it was not what the people of France wanted, which was equality. The government was not giving rights or actions they promised either, and both sides of the fight were put in serious danger.…

Out of the darkness of the French defeat and capitulation of 1940 rose one of the greatest mass-resistance movements in history. Thousands of French patriots rose up, by themselves and in groups, and defied Nazi authority. They formed resistance movements that fought the Nazi occupation of France and the collaboration of the Vichy government. The French resistance was detrimental to the success of the Allies during World War II because they played a key role in the D-Day landings and were able to assist the Allied troops by informing about local German troop dispositions and providing first hand intelligence information, as well as maintaining escape networks that helped trapped Allied soldiers and airmen escape. The resistance was a symbol of unity and pride…
Throughout different time periods and civilizations come many different types of art that would never be comparable to those of another time or place. There are also the pieces that come from a completely different time and place, but yet they can still be compared to one another. The Torso of a God (Egyptian, New Kingdom, Dynasty 18, last decade of the reign of Amenhotep III, Granodiorite, 1359-1349 B.C.) and the Statue of Asklepios (Greek, Hellenistic period, Pentelic Marble, 2nd century B.C.) are two sculptures made hundreds of years apart, yet they both display many similarities and show how art is constantly changing whilst keeping the same core ideas.…
The obvious issues would be the mass murders and kidnappings of millions of Ugandans. Many children had been kidnapped, killed, and used as child soldiers and slaves. It was estimated that by 2005, 25,000 children has been abducted by the LRA. It was also estimated that Kony and the LRA had recruited 60,000 to 100,000 child soldiers into their army. Every night 40, 000 children would flee their homes in an attempt to avoid, abduction, murder, or torture from the LRA. As many as 1.8 million Ugandans were put into internally displaced human camps. These camps are for people wanting to flee certain areas, but stay in their country. Many of the people in the camps were forced to flee their homes due to fear of the LRA and strength from the government. Most Ugandans in these camps would have had little chance of returning home. These camps had very high mortality rates and are sometimes referred to as concentration camps. Kony has a small army, partially made up of child soldiers, who he kidnapped and forced to join his army. Kony used this army to launch surprise attacks on villages, kidnapping, killing, enslaving, and terrorizing the people there. Kony and the LRA have spread to other countries around Uganda and throughout Africa, creating even more…
