Lonnie Johnson: Super Soaker Water Gun
Alabama native, Lonnie George Johnson is an African-American engineer who invented the super soaker water gun, one of the worlds top 20 best selling toys since its creation in 1989. Johnson is one of successful inventors and entrepreneurs of his generation. He graduated from Williamson High school as a member of its last segregated class in 1969 and attended Tuskegee university where his idol George Washington carver had once taught on a scholarship graduating with a b.s. in mechanical engineering and a m.s. in nuclear engineering.
