Long Hair vs. Short Hair
Long Hair vs. Short hair
Why do most people wish for long hair? Is it because of the statement “long hair, don’t care” used by people who really don’t have long hair, but in their eyes, they do. Or is it because they just wish they had more hair blowing when it is a windy day. Why can’t women just be satisfied with their short hair? They instead choose to get extensions and weaves and tell people that it is theirs. It seems that the women who want long hair don’t look right with it and those who don’t want it do look right with it. Fortunately, I have medium length hair. Not short and not long. If I had to choose between short and long hair, I would have to go with long hair. Long hair dominates short hair because of the simple fact that you can do so many more hairstyles with it. Although there is a big difference between long and short hair, they do have some similarities. Whether your hair is long or short, there are hairstyles both people with long hair and people with short hair can get. Depending on how short your hair is, you can still get a hairstyle called a “wrap” mostly known by African Americans and it will look just as pretty as a person who has long hair and gets the same hairstyle. In other words: same hairstyle, different hair length, but same results. Also, when it comes to hair texture, hair length rarely has anything to do with it. Whether your hair is short or long you can have the same hair texture. Often people assume just because you have short hair, you don’t have a “good grain of hair” or you don’t have good hair texture.
A person with short hair, there are a limited number of hairstyles you can do. If you wanted to wear a ponytail in your hair, depending on how short your hair is, all of your hair won’t go into that ponytail. If your hair is not short but not too short, your hair may go into that ponytail, but it will make you hair look shorter than it already is. Someone who has short hair can mostly do hairstyles that involves

To start with, I will provide you with some knowledge about the structure of hair. Hair is made up of two basic parts: The follicle, which is the actively growing root or base of a hair containing DNA and living cells, and the shaft, which is a strand of hair compose of a protein called keratin. The shaft is made up of the medulla (the central core of a hair fiber), the cortex (the region of a hair located outside of the medulla containing granules of pigment), and the cuticle (the tough outer covering of a hair composed of overlapping scales). The medulla is different from person to person. Some are continuous, some are fragmented, some aren’t there at all, and some are even doubled. There are also different types of cuticles, including imbricate, which is what humans have, coronal, which is what rodents have, and spinous, which is what animals such as cats have. With a macroscopic view of hair you can see differences in color, length, and where it is curly, wavy, or straight, but that only scratches the surface of what you can see on hair. With a microscopic view you can see the medullary index (the ratio of diameter of the medulla to the diameter of the hair), cuticle type, cortex color, diameter of the hair, and much more.…

There has been so much controversy over the bobbed-hair craze that I feel I ought to put some of the world right, as to my side of it at least. I do not claim to be the first person to wear bobbed hair; in fact, I believe there are a number of people who, like myself, picture Joan of Arc with shorn locks! There have been several periods in history when women wore short hair. It is easier to be the first person to do a thing than the first to introduce it, and I believe I am largely blamed for the homes wrecked and engagements broken because of clipped tresses. I do not wish to take the blame, because in a great number of case I find the responsibility…

There is more to hair than what meets the eye. When people look at different types of hair they tend to only see curly, kinky or straight. They lack the knowledge that it is the chemical bonds in our hair that give us our hair type. The curlier or kinkier a person’s hair is the more chemical bonds they have. If someone has straight hair and desires curly hair, then more chemical bonds would have to be created. Not only do genetics make our hair types but chemistry plays a predominate role as well.…
