The Giver Why is their society, in The Giver so different than ours? Their society is so different because they think that they can make their world perfect. We all know that no one is perfect so what makes it so different? In Lois Lowry’s book The Giver their family unit interacts with each other on a day-to-day basis and has both similarities and differences in our family unit which is better than theirs because ours does not have a limit of children, do not have required time shares, and we like to keep track of age.
