Local Law Enforcement Role
The role of any law enforcement agency is to protect public safety and security to the public.Terrorism as we know is focus on causing violence and disaster to the public. The role of local law enforcement plays a vital part in preventing or eliminating such attacks from taking place in the public.After the September 11 attack local law enforcement operations and roles changed from not just fighting normal civil crimes but also help in a function to combat and counter terrorism.The functions and responsibilities of the local law enforcement was signed in June 2009 by the secretary of homeland security,Janet Napolitano which states"The primary official responsibility for leading the coordination of department wide policies related to the role

As earlier mentioned local law enforcement are able to balance civil liberties role with better sharing information and intelligence as to investigate why certain crimes are committed and if they are link to a terrorist groups. Instead of having majority people on a threat level analysis the minority of such people who may pose concerned should be watched.The local law enforcement have been able to have specialize unit and bureaus in some high level threat jurisdictions cities in the fight to combat terrorism and not have to affair with its civil
