Living Ina City or in a Village
Living in a city or in a village
Our home is our choice. Everybody has possibility to make decision about his/her home. We can choose where we want to live: in a peace village or a teeming city. Before make this serious decision we have to investigate the main points of it.
On the one hand neither living in a city nor living in a village does not seem very badly. Although, nowadays more and more people are choosing to live in city. Firstly, we know that there are plenty of opportunities as business, education and entertainment. Living in a city is very convenient. In cities children can get better education than in a village because of more developed schools. The youth have more possibility for entertainment; there are hundreds of clubs, cinemas and concerts. People have more facilities to find job with good salary. Moreover, there are more services, such as health, medical and ambulance services, police, different offices, hypermarkets. Furthermore transport in an easy thing, because they have a wide range of public transport. Additionally living in a city can not be boring. On the other hand the cost of living in a city is rather high. In cities people always in a hurry, everybody is busy. Cities are very noisy, furthermore the air and the water is polluted because of the many factories and cars. In addition the are a lot of crime as pick pocketing, theft, robbery, kidnapping, blackmailing and even murder.
The best parts of living in a village are the peace and silence. The clean nature calms us and we can be relaxed. In villages people are more friendly and converging. Moreover there are beautiful cottages and detached houses not apartment blocks. The roads are more safety; there are not so much accidents. Additionally the air is fresh; there are a lot of plants and animals. Furthermore culture and traditions are very important there. Finally you can relax a lot, and you can be a member of a rather little but a quiet friendly community. However village has bad side too. Facilities are limited; there are not much job opportunities. Education isn’t as good as in cities. Many people feel themselves bored. Sometimes villages are obscurantist; they can not keep up with development of cities.
To summarise this advantages and disadvantages of living in a city or in a village we can see that there is no unanimous solution. As people are different, their needs are different too. Some people can not live without bustle but some of them adore quite. This is how we were created. As for me I like both of these. I like the big city-style but I like my home village too. I need both of them. After the rushing city my home village makes me calm and relaxed.

There are many differences between living in the city or in a country setting, but the country setting has many more advantages over the city. The air and water quality and other environment factors are improved in the country setting. The school system is safer and less crowded in a rural setting. The roads are not loaded with traffic and taxis. The country is safer than the city and crime rates are lower. In the country, there is an abundance of trees and vegetation. In the country, there are parks and open spaces, and there is a variety of wildlife to observe. Many families and individuals find themselves at some point questioning the advantages of city living versus country living. It is nearly impossible to find a good answer to this question. What is good for one person might not be good for another. Some people enjoy the busy, hyper active metropolitan city where they can use all amenities and have unlimited opportunities for work and leisure. At the same time, other people feel the urge to be closer to Mother Nature, relaxation, beauty, and peace. They take pleasure in living in the calm and peaceful environment of the countryside and spending their free time fishing, hiking, picking berries in the woods, or playing in the creek. In my opinion, the nature of urban and rural life style and the effect it has on people is the most important difference between living in the city and living in the country. I feel fortunate to have grown up in the rural area. I would never trade my memories of playing in the creek, riding four wheelers, or climbing trees all within a short walk from my house. Health, education, and transportation are three major concerns that need to be considered. While city life can bring more opportunities in these cases, country life can provide the best of both worlds.…

Some people prefer to live in a small town whilst others prefer to live in a big city. Which place would I prefer to live in? Living in big cities or small towns both have advantages and disadvantages to their location. People’s living preferences vary for many reasons such as age, profession and interests. Convenience is one of the most beneficial factors to living in a big city. Larger cities are more industrial and advanced and everything can be found with the least effort and time. Big cities also usually have better schools and universities than a small town. This gives people a better chance at a higher and more rounded education that can prepare them for the workplace, large cities have more opportunities specially when it comes to careers as you are more likely to find higher paying jobs so consequently live a more comfortable lifestyle. The big cities also offer a multicultural aspect compared to small towns, you will find people from all over the globe that have come to big cities and open restaurants and shops. Some people think big cities are full of facilities and opportunities and then there are other people that think it’s full of stressed and angry people who are always in a rush. A lot of young adults generally prefer to live in a big city as there is more to do, more shops, bars, restaurants, theatres and museums especially if they have grown up in a smaller town, after all, big cities never sleep. However, there are some values in a small town that are just as or even more important and more difficult to achieve in a big city such as nature and the warmth and comfort of humanity. The quality of life is easier and less expensive. If you want to live in one you must sacrifice the other, live in a calm and quiet and pollution free environment or the busy, entertaining and never sleeping city? I, personally, like living in a smaller town somewhere not too far from a larger city so I can have if and when I want the best of both worlds.…

Chairperson, distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen, colleagues and friends from the media, fellow Ghanaians, Good Evening. It is a pleasure and an honour for me to be here with you this evening. I would like, first, to thank the Institute of Economic Affairs for organizing these encounters. May I acknowledge the respect that the IEA exhibited after the passing of Professor John Evans Atta Millis, our late President by suspending your original schedule. This is a time of great possibility in our country. In fact, the possibilities that lie before us for true and sustained progress are limitless. As the clock draws nearer to our national election, it is crucial for us to depart from the destructive, time-wasting exercise of unfounded personal attacks, petty name-calling, and character assassinations and rather, move our energies toward the debate of real issues, concrete ways in which we can transform these numerous possibilities that exist into viable programmes that can, and will, create A Better Ghana. By establishing these encounters, the IEA is doing just that. It is creating a forum within which we candidates can seriously discuss the issues facing our nation and present the solutions that fall not only within our vision but also within our capability. I welcome this opportunity. While part of the function of a government is absolutely to institute policy and to put forth programmes, what I have discovered is sorely missing in many talks and speeches during this election cycle is the basic link between the citizens of this country and the policies that are being promoted.…

Even though living in a city may be attractive to some with the said preference, it also has disadvantages. A person who lives in a city is prone to expose themselves to pollution emitting from cars, buses, and factories. The city environment is relatively more polluted than being out in the country. On the contrary, in a rural area, villagers enjoy fresh air and stay in a quiet and peaceful atmosphere. Rivers in a city are generally polluted, whereas people living in a countryside use their pure water. Furthermore, traffic is also a problem for metropolitans. Village life is a life that is full of fun and activities. From the morning till the evening we all are working in one way or the other. As soon as we get up we would have a family prayer. This is mostly started by dad. Everyone will come for the prayer when they hear the first song sung by Dad. It would be around 5.30 am. Then we would study for some time. After the studies, the next thing is to brush the teeth. While doing the brushing, we roam around the surroundings. Then we get ready for the morning tea. Two of us (we are three brothers) would be assigned to milk the goat. We use goat milk in our home. Then we go to the river for taking bath. While taking bath, we do swimming.…
