THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND
This chapter presents the Introduction, Statement of the Problem, Hypothesis/Assumption, Scope and Delimitation of the Study, Significance of the Study and the Definition of Terms.
Introduction
Hospitality is the relationship between a guest and a host, or the act or practice of being hospitable. Specifically, this includes the reception and entertainment of guests, visitors, or strangers, resorts, membership clubs, conventions, attractions, special events, and other services for travelers and tourists. "Hospitality" can also mean generously providing care and kindness to whoever is in need. Nowadays, the country generates more than 120,000 Hotel and Restaurant Management (HRM) graduates every year. Most of the HRM graduates also need additional skills training to be able to qualify for employment here in the Philippines and overseas. It is a proof that the boost of competency in hospitality industry. Consequently, the curriculum used to prepare the students in this field should be design to fit the demands of today’s industry.
Being a Hotel and Restaurant Management (HRM) graduating students the researchers are curious to know if their learning, skills and trainings in Trinity University of Asia will qualify them to land a job in the hospitality industry.
This study aims to find the Employability of BSHRM Graduates of Trinity University of Asia: Implications to Curriculum Enhancement to layout an effective plan for reforming the hotel and restaurant management curriculum of the university.
