PAPER
PROPER
Introduction: Reading is an important study skill and an important tool for becoming a good person but Philippines is actually not a nation of book lovers unlike in Japan. In Japan, most bookshops seemed to be the most popular feature of practically every street block.

Body: Reading a book is becoming an unpopular activity among Filipinos right now unlike before. The problem is Filipino writers are mostly not appreciated by us. We don’t even talked about them in our conversations. Compared to London’s Virginia Woolf, one of the most Popular author/writer, almost all of her works were sold out in every bookstore in London. And in some instances, her works were one of the best sellers ang being talked about in London. Here in the Philippines, you can count those Filipinos that will go to store just to buy a book and enjoy being alone reading a book. Filipinos hate solitudes. Reading a book requires patience, time and even endurance in order to understand every chapter and it will really take a lot of time finishing it . Unlike in watching a movie, it can be done for only an hour or two. But as you can see, reading a book is much better than watching it in movie because in movie not all the details from the book are there.

Conclusion: We prefer watching cinemas and hanging out with friends, instead of going to library and read a book. Like in our schools today, they used visual aids to catch our attentions like power point presentations. I can say that Filipinos love entertainment because for us, it is more interesting.

2002 of Public Participation, a survey, has declined for eight of nine major forms that are measured. The decline is worse in young adults. Dana states that “Individuals at a time of crucial intellectual and emotional development bypass the joys and challenges of literature is a troubling trend.” This would probably help his audience to agree with him because she uses information from different dependable sources, by giving them this information it makes them think about how literature diminishing could be affecting their children or grandchildren.…

In a world where written words are most commonly seen on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram--digital platforms where things like sarcasm, excitement, and grief are often hard to detect without the use of emojis-- it is extremely likely that the unembellished words of printed literature are misinterpreted. Ralph Waldo Emerson's assertion that "books are the best of things, well used; abused, among the worst" is perhaps more relevant now than ever.…

Contrary to students within other provinces, those in Ontario should study only Canadian literature in grade twelve English courses. Although there are many existing writers in different cultures, it is important for Ontario students to first become familiar with Canadian literature before moving on. It is believed that students should focus on their Canadian culture - despite being surrounded by other cultures- promote and establish their own writers, and encourage younger Canadian authors.…

Girls and boys from school districts around the world are encouraged to practice reading in their daily lives due its beneficial effects. Writer Alan Maley encourages Extensive Reading, which guides students to read independently and extrinsically. He believes that it, “develops learner autonomy...enhances general language competence” and, “helps develop general, world knowledge” (Maley 2-3). However, the number of people choosing to spend their leisure time invested in a novel is declining by the year. According to Charlotte Alter from Time, “45% of 17-year-olds say they only read once or twice a year, but in 1984, 64% said they read once a week or more”(1). The reason for such a decline can be traced back to technological advancements distracting the younger…

My favorite genre is fiction such as Gary Paulsen's Hatchet novel. I like fiction more than any other genre because the author can express any idea he or she feels like coming up with. It makes the book more exciting and suspenseful. Such as in a non fiction book it would be like Jerry bought an apple at the store, opposed to a fiction book it could be like Jerry drove his car into the store and stole an apple. It's more creative therefore it is more exciting.…

The overall attitude I receive from the poem is that the speaker is having a moment to retrospect to the father. Reliving the times where the father would come home from a bar after a long day’s work to a child, staying up past normal bedtime anticipating his/her father’s return, eager to engage in good nature fun before both retired off to bed.…

My favorite fictional character would have to be Sherlock Holmes. I like him because he has awesome deductive reasoning skills. I relate his skills pretty much to my daily activities. I actually think that we do have to use deductive reasoning in our daily lives even only for a tiny amount. Even for the simplest things, we have to use our logic and analyze whether whatever we’re about to do is right and consider what the outcome is going to be. It always excites me whenever he finds new clues and starting to put the pieces together leading to the big picture. He is a page-turner! He adds suspense and excitement to the story and never fails to amaze me.…
