Lindy And Jonah: A Narrative Fiction
Jonah couldn’t keep himself from being nervous. He was wringing his hands together, waiting for his order to arrive. He looked at Lindy, who was staring down at her cell phone. Lindy didn’t notice Jonah’s almost overwhelming nervousness. Jonah practically sighed in relief once his wine order came to the table. The waitress patted Jonah’s shoulder to comfort him.
“Do you want some of this?” asked Lindy, picking up the bottle of wine.
Jonah paused for a moment, and then responded, “What?”
Lindy furrowed her eyebrows. She glanced over her boyfriend’s face. It was rather obvious that Jonah was hiding something from her. That must have been the reason he asked to meet her for lunch. Lindy cleared that from her mind for the time being. …show more content…
She immediately felt awful for making him anxious. Noticing her keys sitting on top of her bag in the corner of the bathroom, she came up with the stupidest lie in the universe:
“My dog ate my car keys!”
Lindy heard Jonah sigh in annoyance. The two were silent for a moment. Lindy gulped when she heard Jonah shuffle around on the other side of the door.
“Lindy,” he stated, “I saw your dog whenever I came in. Please, just open the door and tell me what’s going on.”
Lindy finally gave up. She stood up and slowly approached the bathroom door. She then took a deep breath before opening the door. Jonah stood before her with his arms crossed over his chest. He stared at her with a concerned look on his face. Lindy tried to avoid as much eye contact as she possibly could.
“Come on in,” said Lindy, stepping aside so that Jonah could enter the bathroom as well.
Jonah walked into the bathroom, immediately feeling his foot slip on the water-covered floor. He froze after he regained his balance. He took a moment to glance around the bathroom. An open toolbox was beside the sink, wet towels were on the floor and in the bathtub, and water completely covered the floor. Jonah rubbed a hand over his face before looking at Lindy with an exasperated
