Lucia was made with finances raised from 110 investors who were roped in using the crowd funding technique through the internet. In the film industry, where producers can always force creative compromises, this method of film production allows filmmakers a degree of freedom that they never usually have and allow them to experiment with ideas that were conventionally been considered risky. It is not that this system is free of risk but dividing the risk among multiple stakeholders reduces the impact of failure. I am not a language extremist, not a bit. In fact I am pretty bad at writing and reading Kannada effortlessly, and I regret my incapacity to learn the language well, but I am trying everyday. But that doesn’t stop me from feeling angry when someone makes fun of it. I feel dreadful when someone starts taking digs at our films. I have always wanted to give it back to them. This is my answer to all those who recommended that I make my film in another language. If all of us run away from the problem, then who will solve it? I have grown up speaking Kannada, I love being in Bangalore, why would I want to give up all this and make my film in another language? Yes there are problems, but I’d rather find a way to solve it than going else …show more content…
We will be giving opportunities to all the talented people who are otherwise crushed by the industry politics and nepotism. If you are a talented person waiting for the right opportunity, you should write to me, I will accept or reject you depending on your talent alone. No other element will come in to the picture, like who your father is or how much money you have. I am starting from zero for this project, except a few assistants, every other department involved in making the film will be open for new talent! Poornachandra has been able to impress me with his music, he might be onboard for this. Hear this sample – And he plays the song “Nee maayeyolago?” song for me. The film will be produced by YOU – the audience. For years you have complained that you don’t like what is being produced in the Kannada industry and similarly I don’t like what I am forced to make as a director. So let’s come together and solve each others
