In the book Broken China the author Lori Aurelia Williams brings the reader a novel dealing with a young mother's struggles and much more. China Cup Cameron is 14 balancing going to school full time just barely hanging on and trying to raise her 2 year old daughter almost single handedly, until death is brought upon the family. This brings up one reason why I believe that this book will not be read one hundred years from now. It presents a negative way have young teenage girls to work for money. In chapter three of the book the customers at…
Last year I had quite an adventure. I wanted to visit Han China but I couldn’t because the Han Dynasty was overthrown nearly 2000 years ago, in the year 220 CE. My solution was to build a time machine. I would tell you how I built it, but I won’t since you might use it to kill your grandfather and mess up reality. Anyways, I went back to the year 100 BCE during the reign of Han Wudi. I went back to this year because under Han Wudi the Han dynasty reached its peak, and I wanted to see the Han China when it was a glorious empire. When I arrived in China the first thing I noticed was a group of Chinese boys playing a sport that looked somewhat similar to a game of soccer. I asked one of them what they were playing…

For example while learning about China, I learned that they had very fertile land, but since it was mountainous they couldn’t do much, but made way with Rice paddies. Rice Paddies are flooded fields in warm areas were the rice grows best. Since Rice grows more food per acre than Wheat, according to Document B, it helps support population growth. Which helps influence the civilization. I mentioned before that China was mountainous. These mountains acted as a natural boundary against other places, but it made China very ethnocentric along with their many other natural borders. These mountains caused the people of China to live in river valleys.…
Others that were included in the lower class were rural farmers although they were landowners. Their land debts were high, and incomes were so very low, that their standard of living was in fact similar to lower class industrial workers. Farming was a family project until the 19th century when advances in technology in the forms of many things from the mechanical reaper and combine to more effective fertilizers and pesticides, transformed it into an industrial business. Because farming technology had increased, fewer workers were needed year-round. Yet, more seasonal employees were needed for planting and harvesting, for example fruits and vegetables require hand-picking.…
Chapter eight discusses the migration of the Chinese in the 1800’s. These migrants were looking for a peaceful place to live from than China. In China there were conflicts caused by British Opium Wars. While British Colonialism was pushing the Irish population west across the Atlantic, it was also pushing the Chinese east across the Pacific. Another reason for this migration was that they were getting away from the chaos of peasant rebellions. Along with all of this, there was an economic crisis. Most of those who migrated were men, temporarily working in America. They were illiterate and hardly went to school but they had high expectations for themselves.…

Americans usually discredit the Chinese in the founding of America. However the Chinese put a large amount of work into helping construct the western part of the United States. In addition, they personally may have suffered more than Americans in the construction of the Transcontinental Railroad. In fact, some could argue that the Chinese laborers had the most difficulty surviving and thriving in the west due to natural dangers, economic deprivation, and social threats.…
During the time after the Reconstruction for the West, they were helped by the federal government with their economical development in farming, mining and other things that brought in money for them. Some of the most important ways that profit come in to the West was the Gold and Silver Rush out there and also railroads began to be built around this time too. By having the railroads, the mining and the farming beginning the economic stability for the West, the federal government placed some important laws and watched over them to make sure nothing happened to disrupt it.…
My daily experience usually contains a fair amount of walking and then often going to work and/or school. During the week I usually walk a mile to work and then work all day and walk home. This occurs during most of the week except for the nights that I have class and when that happens, I walk to class instead of back to my house since my school is on the way home. Once I am home, I spend time with my fiancé, my roommate, and our three cats, usually playing Xbox or watching things that are recorded. As far as customs and habits that I have, I usually work over the weekends and the beginning and end of the week instead of the middle because of the fact that my job is open all weekdays and weekends and also due to the fact that I have class. Also due to class schedules, I can work as early as 5:30 in the morning and as late as 9:30 at night.…
When looking back to the history of immigration, there were always huge differences because of the different areas and special periods. Sometimes it seemed like a flood; people were trying to escape quickly. Sometimes it also seemed like a trickle when most of the people did not want to leave their motherland. No matter why those immigrants came or whatever their goals were, there was only one reason. The reason was because America had something they wanted or they did not have.…

These Asians come from Japan, China, Korea, Laos, Thailand, and many other diverse countries in the Eastern hemisphere.
