Life Of Pi Nature Essay
The story Life Of Pi is an outstanding adventure, showing the will to survive. Nature creates lives yet can very so easily take a life. Pi must face the harsh conditions at sea and fight against the elements in order to stay alive, he faces hunger, dehydration, and mentally struggles with reality and life among the lifeboat. Ultimately nature takes everything from Pi including his family, and his family's fortune.
The night of the explosion and “The Sinking of Tsimtsum” Pi is left alone with wild animals on a raft boat. He is terrified to know that the animals on the raft could attack him at any given moment and there are sharks in the water around him so he cannot swim away. Soon enough Pi learns how to live with one animal on the boat, the tiger. Pi has an opportunity to kill the ravenous Richard Parker, but catches himself, with knife in hand questioning his actions (“What am I doing?”) . Instead he finds a way to save the tiger, to save nature or live with nature. Finding a way to survive with natures beings doesn’t solve Pi struggles to find a meal. Nature takes a strong grip on Pi’s appetite and mental mind among the seas . The world is always changing which means so is nature. Pi is put through many series of events that he must fight his mind to stay alive in life threatening situations. Dehydration takes a toll on Pi throughout his journey. Pi makes it clear that lack of abundant fresh water was his greatest stress at all times. Pi discovers twelve solar stills, devices that transform salt water into fresh water through a process of evaporation, he is able to set them up in the water to collect fresh drinking water. He explains his troubles by saying “Life on a lifeboat isn’t much of a life. It is like an endgame in chess, a game with few pieces. The elements couldn’t be more simple, nor the stakes
