La Gran Sabana, Venezuela has many waterfalls, and exceeding great rocks called Tepuys, but there is a place in La Gran Sabana where many people do not know because is far away, people cannot take the car and they need to walk for hours to go there. However, when people see the place is like a paradise, the grandiose place is called The Natural Swimming Pool. This is not just a regular swimming pool. This natural pool is peaceful; for example, the crystalline water which everybody can drink. The surrounding is passive; there is nothing around the pool, just a Tepuys far away. This pool despite to be natural, people can slide in a natural slide and diving. This pool is so deep that tourist cannot touch the floor. The shape of the natural swimming pool is like a common circle swimming pool, but is made of scratchy rocks. Also, it has a natural diving board which is made of rock too. The slide is made of a very smooth rock, people can set on the slide and it is very slippery. The pool is so deep that when the people use the diving rock they cannot touch the surface. The pool is in the middle of nowhere; people can scream and nobody can hear. Nature is so gorgeous that there is a part in the swimming pool where there is stairs made of rock to enter on the pool. Some people go there to think and meditate because is so silence. The best season to go to this pool is every time on the year, sometimes on June and July is raining, but it is still a calm place. However, going to this place is like the hot desert but in a moment of hallucination all can become reality the weather on January is perfect in La Gran Sabana because the sun is always shining and the breeze is adequate of the moment not too cold and not too hot. When people touch the water they feel a sensation to be always on the water. The temperature of the water is warm, so people can swim comfortable

The Notebook is one of my favorite love movies of all time. The reason I love this movie so much is because that main characters Noah and Allie go through so many trials and finally end up together in the end. This movie I feel shows me how strong their love for each other really was and I now feel as if it is meant to be it will always find a way. Looking at the movie as a reference to get a better understanding of how lifespan development works, I realized that most of the trials that Noah and Allie went though were part of stages of development. The theory of stages of development was created by Erik Erikson, he believes that we go though certain stages in our life and if we do not get passed them properly we will end up with underdeveloped skills in our lives. The Notebook has many different stages that the main characters go though such as, stage eight, integrity vs. despair, stage five, identity vs. identity confusion, and stage six, intimacy vs. isolation.…

Once I get two feet from the wall, I curl up into a ball and flip while blowing bubbles. If I don’t blow bubbles, water will get into my nose. I put my hands into a streamline above my head and push off of the wall. I do some dolphin kicks and then when I am about one foot from the surface, I break my streamline and start my usual stroke routine in the opposite direction. Before you could snap I was already at the other end of the pool, the side I had hopped into. I did another flip turn. The taste of salt has been in the Conejo Valley pool every time I had went but I hadn't been in the pool at all this morning so the taste was very surprising.…

What inspires the will to survive in an extreme environment? What traits and characteristics are required in order to sustain life in such a situation? Life in extreme environments explained in the two texts, “Life of Pi” by Martel and “The Story of Keesh” by London, expresses that survival is translated through the characters instinct and intelligence that pushes them to triumph. In “The Story of Keesh”, Keesh’s primal instinct is to fairly apportion to others, as his father, Bok, was the greatest hunter and did the same.…

Yann Martel's novel Life of Pi is the story of Piscine Molitor Patel, also known as Pi, who at the age of sixteen survived for 227 days on a lifeboat in the Pacific Ocean. The boat consisted of a hyena, an orang-utan, a zebra, and a 450-pound Bengal tiger named Richard Parker; later on the true story is revealed which is without any animals. Early in the novel the reader is told that this story will convince one to believe in God, each of the two different versions are a metaphor to understanding religion, and by choosing which to believe it is choosing how one would view religion. Martel uses the theme of storytelling in a powerful way; he connects his two stories to religion and faith, and allows the reader to choose for themselves which to believe.…

In the novel Life of Pi, by Yann Martell, the narrator presents two stories that make us question reality. Piscine Molitor Patel is portrayed as a confused Indian boy who has gone through life just wanting to believe. As he tries to believe in three religions, he explains that, “all religions are true.’ [He just wants] to love God” (87). When Pi presents these two stories that “will make you believe in God”, the likelihood of the story without the animals being “the better story” is slim (x) (398). Although it is similar to the story with the animals, it contains only “dry, yeastless factuality” that will only “confirm what you already know” (381). Furthermore, the true story is the one with the animals because the story without the animals “won’t make you see higher or further or differently” (381).…
