Life History Narrative: Daniel Ross

In the last 3 years, I’ve accomplished a few things, most of which I am proud of. I have also learned a few skills that will be with me until the day I die. I have achieved a lot through the Army cadet program. It has given me more confidence in what I say and do, it has helped me develop my leadership skills, and it has helped me become a better drummer.

I didn’t have much confidence before I joined the cadet program, but as I moved up through the ranks and the training years went by and now, I can show and teach cadets how to tune and play a snare drum. I can teach 12 and 13 year olds to tie certain knots.

-Through marching band, I've learned to give straight-forward instructions which I find is more effective in most scenarios outside of the culture. Personal background starts off small, it changes and grows over time into something big, it grows into an identity. Walking down the hallway at school, seeing someone standing alone, my first instinct is to make conversation, compliment, or even just smile at him or her. This instinct came from someone once telling me an act so small could turn a person's entire life around. As a kid, reading encyclopedias about random topics, consumed my time. Many days were spent coming home to find an injured wild animal in my dad's arms waiting to be saved. My dad would sit outside and draw animals, trees, and anything else he saw. Nothing excited me more than trying to draw whatever my dad drew, and as good as he did. Any assignment that was handed to…

It was ridiculously hard to get married back in the 1700s but after years I met my beloved Abigail Gilbert at the age of 25 and we wed in 1772, it’s been history since. Months after our wedding I got the news that I was going to be a father of a boy and the name Daniel Junior came to mind, later in 1773 he was finally born. Years passed and I became father to more children including two beautiful girls. We eventually had to go down the road to Shutesbury in the west so I was able to join the militia there because I wasn’t able to stay as a member in the Brookfield Militia. Moving was hard but the outcome was great because after all my hard work in drilling I was known as Sergeant Daniel Shays and later on turned to Lieutenant Daniel Shays.…

It was not a normal day for the Curtis family. Fifteen years ago on the 27th of August, Christopher Curtis was making lunch when all of the sudden, Jennifer Curtis found herself in the back of an ambulance! Chris was holding Jennifer's hand and trying to keep her calm along the bumpy ride to the nearest hospital. As they arrived at the Floyd Memorial Hospital in the year of 2001, the paramedics quickly pushed Jennifer inside the hospital. The paramedics didn’t want Chris to come in quite yet so while waiting, he decided to call everyone and tell them the wonderful news! As soon as they told him it was fine to go in, he rushed down the hallways hoping to make it before it was too late but as he swung himself around the corner to Jennifer’s room, they were waiting for him. There he saw the 8 pounds and 6 ounce baby girl he had been waiting 6 months for.…

If I were to be accepted into Thomas Dale’s prodigious Program of the Performing Arts, I would be delighted, not only because I would be able to express my passion for the violin but I could also mingle with the numerous amount of others who possess similar interests as mine. It is also one of my objectives to become a professional musician further along in my career path, Thomas Dale would be one step closer to achieving such an arduous path for a profession. Another reason that seems minor, but is actually significant for my choice of striving for the Arts, is making my wonderful teacher and conductor proud. If I joined the specialty center I would be an asset to the school program because I display a strong fervor for the beautiful music…

One moment I had that I will never forget is when my friend Libby Bridges who is another teen in PFO, was sharing HER impactful moment to the leadership team. I was sitting there and listening to her talk about how she used to be afraid that she will never make an impact on the world. Libby is a person that I really look up to in PFO. She shows impeccable leadership skills and she has the kindest heart. To hear her talk about her fears and watching her be so vulnerable makes me start to cry. In this moment I realized how surrounded by love I was, and how grateful I was for the opportunity PFO has given me. PFO has given me the chance to make beautiful connections and bonds that I wouldn't trade for anything.…

That is amazing! I can honestly say a fish tank was not of high worry for me when it comes to things being hacked. I, like most people, think of my cellphone, tablet, and computer, of being hacked compared to my appliances (which non of them are smart so I am hopefully safe there). It's amazing how someone in another state or even country can access almost everything I own. A gentleman named Thomas Hatley, was awoken one morning by someone stating, "I can see all of the devices in your home and I think I can control them” (Hill, 2013). This stranger proceeded to prove to Thomas what she could do by turning his lights on and off. This man seemed astounded by the possibilities. It's amazing to me that some individuals still don't understand the…
