One significant event that changed my life was my grandmother passing away. My grandmothers passing definitely played a life-shaping effect on my life. My grandmother passing was something that was very unexpected and shocking. This was something that no one in the family expected and left a lasting impression on me and my siblings. The reason my grandmothers passing was so significant event was that before her passing I was heading down a bad path in life and associating with negative factors. While in last days before her passing speaking with her and promising to change my life was something that has molded me into the person I am today.

Now as I think back on the event, this event to be the most accurate memory that I have from my past. But the more I think about it and try to relive the memory the more I find myself questioning the details of the event. I thought that I was the only person in the room during our conversation when truth is that my two sisters were also there. Even though these details I believed to be true were false, the actual conversation between my grandmother and I remember clear. I actually can recall the conversation word for word with tone of voice included. It seems that the details of the event have faded away due to progression of age. The fact that I can recall the conversation itself with such details and accuracy shows that I placed heavy importance on the actual conversation and not necessarily the event itself. So because the background information was not given any importance these details became miscued as time progressed.

This event has had a positive effect on my life in that it made me look at my life in a different light and walk a path that I believed to be more positive. I believed that this event forced me to look towards positive factors to give me happiness. Before this event I was not concerned about the happiness that I had in my life or the happiness that I caused in loved ones

A big event that has changed my life was when my older brother moved away to go to the navy. This changed my life cause I did not know if I was ever going to see him again. When he told me he was leaving and not going to be back for awhile i thought he was leaving because of me, I was a little brat back then so yeah and at the age i was i thought everything was my fault. The day my brother left was probably the saddest thing to ever happen because me and him would always hang out and play video games or walk around town or do something fun. I remember when we dropped him off at the airport i was clinched on to his leg and i was refusing to let go because I didn’t want him to leave. Now that i look back on it i think one of the reasons why i didn’t want him to leave is because he was kinda like my best friend/ role model so yeah and well he is my older brother and I didn’t want anything to happen to him.…

Many events over the course of my life have had a large influence on me. The one that has had the greatest effect on me was my mother’s stroke. I came home from school one day and went to my friend’s house. At around six o’clock, my dad picked me up and we went to the car. We questioned him about where our mother was and he said that she was in the hospital. I initially had no reaction, as I did not know how to react to the news. Then I immediately began to worry about whether it would impact our family or if he survived. We drove to the Emergency Room frantically. Once we got there, mom was laying in a hospital bed. She could not speak well and the left side of her body was not moving correctly. This scared everyone in the room until the doctor told us that she would recover in around a month. The doctor explained that a hemorrhage had occurred in her brain: a blood vessel had popped and blood had sprayed onto her brain. This was limiting her functions, but once her brain filtered out the blood, she would be alright. Mom remained in the hospital for three weeks and could not speak for the next two weeks. Throughout this time, I was still able to maintain my life.…

Ever since I can remember I spent almost ever y day at my Grandparents house. They live right down the road from my family and me, and that is how they got the title “Grandma and Grandpa down the road”. They lived in a small house three bedrooms, one bathroom, and a small living room with a fire place that can worm the coldest heart. And in their back yard stood a shed filled with old farm equipment and stray cats with their kittens that I would try to catch every day. They are now both 78 years old and sadly not very healthy. My grandpa was diagnosed with lung cancer in October, and it changed my grandpa’s life, my family’s life, and my life.…

Quite possibly the most impactful event in my life was the death of Harriet Williams. Harriet was a foster mother and a devout Christian. She had fostered six children to adulthood and one of her own. When she stumbled upon me I was only 2 months old and the story she would always tell was and I was so cute that she just had to adopt me but because she didn't want to make the other children jealous she adopted all of them as well. Harriet had enough love in her heart to adopt 7 other boys and two girls all because she loved me. Looking back on it now she probably said that to all of us but it will always be special to me. So for the next 14 years I had a family just like any other family but also unlike any other. My mothers thought was that…

The one event that majorly impacted my life was the first mission trip I went on with my school, Indian Rocks Christian School. Every May the school sends teams of students and teachers to different places around the world, from right nearby in Florida to the other side of the world in Thailand. My ninth grade year I got the chance to travel to and spend a week working in Guatemala, with children, adults, and some time working construction, and it changed my view on life greatly. I met so many amazing people, and wonderful children, but I also saw another side of how people live and it opened my eyes. While in Guatemala, I was in a small group who were given the opportunity to visit families who the church helped. Their houses were barely held…

The most significant event that has happened throughout my life was when I first joined my high schools wrestling team. Joining the wrestling team changed me in many ways. Wrestling taught me not to give up on my goals and to keep on going if I want to achieve anything in my life. Even though I might be talking about a sport, we, the wrestlers, saw it different because of how our coach taught it to us and how he showed and explained it.…

Examples of it could be if someone witnessed an abduction, had a premature baby or even death of a loved one. Out of the three influences nonnormative life events impacted me the most. One was the death of my grandfather. His death directed me in a better direction. He is the reason I work so hard to this day in every aspect. He inspired me to lose weight. I went from being obese to fit. His death almost gave me back my life. Looking back, if that never happened I have no idea what path I would be on. I think of that event as a “domino effect” after that, everything changed. New chapters begun and a lot of things were different. This is why it affected me so much. Another nonnormative life event was an unexpected career opportunity. This happened while I was at my old job. My boss asked me to be his nanny. It was out of the blue and I hesitantly said yes. I had no idea of what I was doing or what the job entailed. I learned within four months of the job that kids are my passion. I then applied for another job, Foss Swim School. I started teaching young children how to swim. Again I had no idea of what I was doing. I still nanny and work at Foss. If I never had become a nanny I would still probably be in school studying business. After six months into my nanny job I changed my major to Pre-DPT in hopes of becoming a pediatric physical therapist. Again, taking that job changed everything…
