Lgbt Homelessness Effect
LGBT (Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender) homelessness is individuals who define themselves as LGBT that are living on the streets. These LGBT homeless individuals find themselves homeless for many different reasons. Many of these LGBT homeless individuals face different obstacles with being homeless in their life such as: social stigma, discrimination and, one that occurs more often than other being rejected by their families. All of these different obstacles lead to mental and physical strains/challenges that they as individuals have to take on everyday. Many of them struggle with drug abuse, suicide, hunger, and much more. Mainly because they do not have the help they need to get through it on their own. The problem of LGBT homelessness affects

Leading these homeless LGBT individuals to think about suicide, turn to drug use, become addicted to drugs, turning to violence. These homeless LGBT individuals are turning to suicide because they find out they can not provide for themselves the essential needs to survive while living on the streets. Although many of the homeless LGBT individuals turn to suicide many decide to start drugs, because it makes the pain go away, but they become addicted to the drugs. In doing so the homeless LGBT individuals turn to violence because they have no other way to get what they need in order to have a better life. These negative affect have had negative effects happen from them occurring such as: an increase in theft, an increase in deaths (due to starvation, freezing, not being able to find food), and an increase in mental/social problems. This issue with LGBT homelessness is that it is spread all over the country from coast to coast. The bigger cities (such as New York, California, and Los Angeles) tend to have a higher issue with LGBT homelessness due to highly populated areas. At the same time here in Boise we have no way of knowing how many of these homeless individuals are LGBT. However some of the consequences are that play a major role in the issue of LGBT homelessness are: they struggle with health/mental issues, they tend to be arrested more often than others for stealing food, they turn abusive, and they turn to drug use as a way out. If we do not do not do anything about this issue it will continue to rise and it will over time become uncontrollable. LGBT homelessness affects many lives and a solution for it would be building a safe house but, something to take into consideration would be the causes of LGBT
