Letters To A Young Mathematician
I remember from a book titled “Letters to a Young Mathematician” by Ian Stewart that he said, “Mathematics is the shared social construct created by people who are aware of certain opportunities. If math were a building, it would resemble a pyramid erected upside down. The taller the building becomes, the more space to build more.” I could not agree more. Mathematics is an opportunity. It should never stop growing, and neither should I. Ever since I declared mathematics as a major, I vowed to myself to always be willing to learn and to keep my minds working. After four years of education highly focused on mathematics, I have come to the conclusion that without an effort to delve into it, mathematics will remain as an ugly monster. However, once one sets foot in it, one will find nothing more delightful than mathematics. I loved learning mathematics for the past few years and I believe the best is yet to come.

It was my first time in graduate level courses and I needed some time to adapt. Although it was hard to accept that I am not always the best, I learned more than in any semesters. I do not think my grades and scores from standardized tests show every inch of what I am capable of. To me, understanding mathematics was mostly done by realizing how each part of mathematics interacts with one another. Surprisingly enough, every part of it is interconnected and once I am fully armed with the basic tools, I am free to go anywhere within or even outside of it. What else can there be to offer me of so much
