Let’s Talk About Sex Sex is considered as the feelings or behaviors between a man and a woman resulting in sexual intercourse. The sexual attitudes towards certain topics of sex consist of the opinions of sex being always wrong, almost always wrong, sometimes wrong, or not wrong at all. Americans range from a variety of opinions on this particular topic because some citizens are either religious and follow religious values, are not religious, but still care, or those who do not care at all. Through a four question survey, a little over seven candidates were offered to take the survey and express their opinions on the different topics of sex. Premarital sex is known as an individual having sexual intercourse with another before marriage or engagement. In America, 52 percent of the population considers premarital sex to be not wrong at all. Among those who answered the survey, the option of premarital sex to be not wrong at all was the highest opinion. The reason for this is because one stated, “Because sex whether people want to believe it or not is very important.” Another proclaimed that it is wrong only sometimes based upon beliefs and depends upon the age. Looking into the readings over the chapter, only 21 percent of Americans consider premarital sex to be always wrong mainly because of the religious values and morals; however that is not always the case. In the early 1900’s, about 50 percent of the American population have already partaken in premarital sex intercourse by the age of nineteen. Extramarital sex is commonly known as “adultery” or having sexual intercourse with another person outside of marriage. According to the readings, in America, only 77 percent believe that extramarital sex is always wrong. This is very surprising compared to what was observed in the surveys because the highest opinion was that it is always wrong to be involved in intercourse outside of marriage.
