The Town Where I Lived
By A. J. Gil

Oh, the town where I lived –Now that is a town.
A river runs through it, now sparkling, now brown.
There the rain falls in torrents and low bend the trees.
And puddles delight us, the ducks, and the geese.

And the summer sun blazes, hot and around,
‘till the haze shimmers above the ground,
Then night her portals fast unbars,
Releasing a zillion starting stars.

Now my heart aches all day for my town far away
Where life is sweet and tidy and neat.

The Poem ‘Winter Swans’ seems to convey a strong theme of natural love. The poem begins with setting a scene of a peaceful day, where nature seems to be stilled after the torrential weather that is referred to in the first line through ‘The clouds had given their all.’ It goes on to say that there was then a ‘break’, and throughout the poem the poet uses words such as ‘silent’ and ‘rolling’, ‘stilling’ and ‘slow-stepping’ to capture this scene of peace and serenity, as if the world was resting after being thrashed about by a storm.…

After crossing fields we arrived at a large, overgrown pond. The half crescent moon cast a glow upon its surface and from the reeds the occasional quack of a nesting duck broke the silence. Mr Willis sat on a log and lit his pipe while I talked with Annie and watched Caroline play with the dogs. After a while, we heard a splash.…

There is some confusion about what a lesson plan* is and is not. A worksheet is not a lesson plan. A handout is not a lesson plan. A classroom game or activity is not a lesson plan. In fact, there is no need for a lesson plan to ever be seen, touched, considered or dreamed of by students, and nor does it even need to exist on paper or disk, though it usually does.…

The term business cycle (or economic cycle) refers to economy-wide fluctuations in production, trade and economic activity in general over several months or years in an economy organized on free-enterprise principles.[1] These fluctuations occur around a long-term growth trend, and typically involve shifts over time between periods of relatively rapid economic growth (an expansion or boom), and periods of relative stagnation or decline (a contraction or recession).…

    C. Everard Palmer was born in Jamaica and lived there until a few years ago, when he moved to Canada. His childhood was spent in just such a village as Kendal, lived in by the kind of people who fill the pages of this book. All his stories have been inspired by memories of his childhood and though the people and incidents he describes are imaginary they could easily have been real.…
