Lenina's Drug Abbuse
Introduction
Lenina is pneumatic, meaning “full of air” this can mean that she is curvy and busty or it could mean that she is mentally pneumatic. Being mentally pneumatic means being dull or lifeless which, I believe, describes Lenina perfectly. Lenina is also is very sexually impulsive. Whenever something is brought to Lenina’s attention she asks herself how it can affect her sexually. She also is very stressed due to her asking herself a lot of question relating to hers and John’s relationship. Lenina is also very self-conscious about herself. She made me feel this way when she was explaining to me about how it made her fell when Bernard told her that he regrets having sex with her and her thinking it was because he felt she was unattractive. …show more content…
Drug abuse is a brain disease because by taking the drugs it leads to changes in the function of the brain. The people choose to take drugs but the more drugs they put into their system the more the drug starts to trick the brain into thinking it need the drug. By continuing to take a drug it can affect a person's self-control, it creates a need to take the drug, and makes making a good decision hard to make. Lenina takes Soma to calm her down. For example she took Soma when she was on her date with Bernard when he showed her the ocean because she thought it was awful and got all worked up over the ocean so she took a Soma to calm her down. She also took a lot of Soma when Bernard took her to The Reservation because she had a hard time dealing with Linda a needed something to calm her down. The society that Lenina is living encourages the use of Soma so she thought there was nothing wrong with taking it because the society says it is okay. Lenina close friend Aldous Huxley says to me “Lenina felt herself entitled, after this day of queerness and horror, t a complete and absolute holiday. As soon as she and Bernard got back to the rest-house, she swallowed six half-gramme tablets of Soma, lied down on her bed, and within ten minutes had embarked for lunar eternity.
