Len and Marilyn
What are the objectives of both parties in the exchanges?
Both parties are trying to not only get their points across but they are both looking out for the best interest of their teams. They are trying to get what they both feel like they deserve within the negotiation.
How would you describe the general "tone" of the exchanges?
In the first exchange it almost seems like Len’s tone is a little threatening and Marilyn’s tone is a bit defensive and worried in response.
Were Marilyn's objectives on the way to being effectuated in the first exchange?
Absolutely not. Marilyn was not going to get her way. Again, she was more defensive and that was not giving her the chance to get her point across and it was also not giving her the proper chance to negotiate her point either.
Were Len's objectives on the way to being effectuated in the first exchange?
Yes. I think that ultimately Len was going to end up with his way. He was more or less “attacking” Marilyn and I feel like he was bullying her into getting his way. He was vying for her sympathy and I think that he would of ended up getting it eventually. He left Marilyn defending herself and everything that she was trying to negotiate which was not going to be effective for her.
What do you project the outcome of the first exchange to be?
I think that the outcome of the first exchange would have been 90% in Len’s favor and Marilyn would have maybe been 10% satisfied. Len was using almost any tactic he could in order to get his way which was not allowing Marilyn to argue her part of the negotiation. It was more or less a no win situation for her.
Were Marilyn's objectives on the way to being effectuated in the second exchange?
Yes, Marilyn was able to stand her ground and argue her points in this negotiation. She wasn’t allowing Len the opportunity to “guilt” or “bully” her.
Were Len's objectives on the way to being effectuated in the second exchange?
Yes. Len was being heard and his points were getting

No, I feel that Marilyn started off well but then allowed Len’s aggression to get the best of her. She became more defensive while countering each of Len’s comments, which caused her to lose sight of the points she had to present in this negotiation. If this would have continued in this manner, Marilyn will not get her point across. Len had her backed into a corner, and Marilyn’s defensiveness was ineffective, since it wasn’t able to turn the negotiation in her favor.…

Throughout the trial, I believed (and still do) that Mayella's father, Bob Ewell, beat her (Lee 187). When I cross-examined Mayella, I tried to get her to admit to this, but she still insisted that Tom Robinson raped her (Lee 187-188). If a person would look at the evidence on hand, they would know that this was not the case. First of all, Tom's left arm was crippled from being caught in a cotton gin (Lee 186). Considering the fact that she was bruised and beat on the right side of the face, this was not possibly an action from Tom. However, Bob Ewell was left handed, meaning that when he was hitting Mayella, he hit her along the right side of the face (Lee 177). Second of all, Tom was only trying to help Mayella with her chores around the house because no one else in the family would help her (Lee 191). Thirdly, why on this particular day, November 21st, were the children out of the house? Mayella told Tom that she had saved money for a whole year so she could treat them to ice cream (Lee 193). Also on that day, she…

One such case was the New York Times article in which Mrs. Nina Formby "...called The Times and asked that she be permitted to make a public denial of the statements she made against Frank only after she had been unduly influenced to do so by the Atlanta detectives".(3) After all of the facts about forced testimony, Leo Frank could not get a retrial.…

Joey Cope taught us that negotiation is the “consensual bargaining process in which the parties attempt to reach agreement on a disputed or potentially disputed matter” (CONR 605). The essential attributes of a successful negotiation include the use of bargaining tactics by the parties and a relatively equal amount of power for each of the parties. These aspects do not fit the relationship between couples suffering from domestic violence since the abuser already holds the power. Negotiation will not change the dynamics of such a relationship.…

It was said by those who knew her best that they felt that she always had a deep insecurity because of her troubled life of bouncing from foster home to foster home which ultimately made her feel that she was unlovable and unwanted. Growing up in such an invalidating environment no doubt affected her self-image and her views on life and the world in general. As a young woman, she bounced from one tumultuous love affair to another, marrying quickly and repeatedly, and never finding the security that she so desperately hoped marriage would bring. “She discusses her desire to be loved, and inability to find this but also to the many men that are drawn to her she is no more than an object, and later a disappointment when they find she is not Marilyn the temptress, but Marilyn, an ordinary person filled with doubts and misgivings like so many others.” (Goal Auzeen Saedi, 2012, p.3). She is also rumored to have had affairs with both President John F. Kennedy and his brother Robert (among many, many others) shortly before her…

While observing the conflict I didn’t learn many things about a character but I learned some characteristics like how his skin is pink, his hair is clean and shiny, and can be pig-headed. I would have taken Mary Lou’s side because she did try to talk to Alex and maybe if he stayed around to listen they could have worked things out could have been solved. I also agree with her because I do know what it's like to have a certain perspective of a person and then have it…

The main conflict in the story was when Lennie unintentionally murdered Curley’s wife. I do think when George kills Lennie that the problem was solved. I think the problem was solved because the problem was dealt with and everyone could almost move on. If Lennie were to have been captured he probably would have been tortured to a more extreme and eventually killed. However, I do believe that there are other ways they could have dealt with the situation to were no one else would have been injured.…

Gary was annoyed with the demand for salary cap of the players which was countered by Bob by stating it as not true. Players would never want a lockout. Both parties wanted to carry forward with the negotiation. Inorder to have a clear understanding of the case, a brief explanation of the concept of negotiation is given below.…
