EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
A year ago Company TCU decided to integrate its Canada Company into its US operations leave Canada as mainly a marketing and sales operation. This was decided in an effort to create a North America business company that will leverage resources and working capital.
The change decision was initiated by the CEO and the US President, supported by the Leadership team that consisted of the Chief Supply chain officer, the VP of merchandising, the senior director of operations as well as the Canada Vice president and Merchandising and Marketing Manager
Current Situation It’s been a year since the integration started. Change has brought many challenges to certain departments as the country that is integrating its operations has different regulations in place that don’t match the current processes. Also during this change process, we have uncovered several issues that are taking extra resources and time to resolve. A bigger change has also taken place where priorities have been shifted. Work load has increased with little increase to resources and employee morale is low due to the amount of work and constantly shifting of priorities.
There has been training in place however with this change a lot of processes do not exists. It’s up to the integration team to create the best practices and processes for both companies.
By analyzing the Model of leading change we observe the below needs to be enforced in order to support this change
1. Communicating the Change of Vision – This particular step was not articulated properly top down so people could not clearly understand the scope of the change and the steps needed to start moving towards the change
2. Bring people along with you – Understand the pain that critical groups are going through with this change and respond to what is heard.
3. Generating Short Term Wins – A process that will help the critical groups have a sense of accomplishment and a motivation to continue to make the change

    1. Devon seems for me to have task-oriented or transactional leadership style. His opinion about being a leader is that the one who is successful should be able to exert power. The transactional leader is provided with the power for particular task performance, as well as for the reward and punishment of his subordinates. And Devon considers that leadership constitutes predominantly actions the person takes with his employees. For him it is everything about appropriate punishment and reward. He insists on making the job and tasks of the employees less complicated and challenging by assigning them exact amount of those with definite instructions, and then just ensures that his subordinates possess adequate resource base for task fulfillment. It is how transactional leader acts- he leads the group of people by setting particular goals to it to accomplish, and then possess enough power for evaluation, correction and training of the employees when the expected goals are not reached and rewarding them in the opposite case(Burns, 1978). Devon can be called to some extent a servant leader as well (Greenleaf, 1977), as this kind of leader facilitates objective accomplishment by providing team with all necessary resources so that it be productive. As a task-oriented leader, Devon would focus on the specific tasks and job that should be done assigned to each employee to reach some goal. This leadership type presumes close supervision of the team to ensure that all expected results are achieved. Devon also insists that his key feature is being a leader who is guided with the sense of fairness, and he would reward and punish justly, as well as he also claims that his employees would perform on the high levels and be satisfied with their jobs.…

    Introduction This case study titled, Babcock University New Department Chair Leaders Dilemma, explores the leadership shift from Dr. Afolabi to Dr. Aluko in the Babcock University Public Management Department. The case study holds that Dr. Afolabi was the public management department chair person for ten years at Babcock University. His leadership style was explained as “autocratic.” However, he had, “personal qualities necessary to command respect and loyalty” (Leadership Case Study: Babcock University New Department Chair Leaders Dilemma). Additionally, Dr. Afolabi made and enforced all rules, regulations and policies in extreme detail. His autocratic style of leadership left very little to the individual faculty member in terms of experimentation, freedom in teaching and handling of students.
