In order for a church to carry out its mission it needs effective leader/leadership. But what is leader/leadership? In spite all that has been said about leadership there is no universally accepted definition of a leader/leadership. Perhaps the next best definition of Christian leader is taken from The Making of a Leader by Bobby Clinton: “a person with God-given capacity and God-given responsibility who influences a group of followers toward God’s purposes for the group.”(p.127). In my own words this is someone who follows the example of Christ and does so in a way that influences others.

Getting along well with others is a crucial part of leadership. This would include such skills as verbalizing ideas, dreams, and concerns; articulating goals succinctly and simply; and demonstrating organizational strength and boundless energy. Leaders who motivate inspire others to do their best. They quickly affirm and remember to give credit where credit is due. Nehemiah was strong at all those points.
The third stone is an unswerving confidence in God. Nehemiah’s journal is filled with prayers—silent ones, short ones, specific ones. He never failed to remind the people of the Lord’s presence and protection. Leaders who are genuinely Christian consistently turn others’ attention to the Source of strength—the One who can accomplish the impossible, the awesome Provider. Confidence in Him does not waver. Their faith is contagious. While they may occasionally doubt their own ability, they do not doubt God’s invincible commitment to His …show more content…
From the time of his birth, Moses had many experiences that uniquely prepared him to lead the Israelites out of Egypt. Moses was adopted by Pharaoh’s daughter and brought up in the king’s household. He learned by observing his adopted grandfather the meaning of authority and leadership. Moses received the best available education in the ancient world. Later, after he was forced to leave Egypt, Moses learned about life in the desert while working as a shepherd. Moses would use everything that he learned from these life experiences to lead his people out of Egypt. All of these experiences that prepared Moses for leadership were a part of God’s unique plan and purpose for Moses’ life. Psalm 139:16 tells us, “All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.” God has given you your life experiences to prepare you for the vision that He has given to you. God is not finished. He will continue to give you experiences that will mold you into the person that God wants you to become. God is making you into person who will resemble Jesus and who will give glory to
