1.0 INTRODUCTION

Leadership is the capacity to translate vision into reality” –Warren Bennis
In life we all have a vision,a dream, a fantasy but few of us have what it takes to make it a reality ,most of us would think back and say “Oh that was just a random wild though that I had when I was young” but the hard fact is that anything is possible with the right balance of application and effort which is where leadership plays a key role ,in many of our lives our dreams and visions are often complicated to the point that they cannot be achieved in isolation ,many of us whose dreams lie in the cooperate world should be aware of the fact that at some point one would have to assume the role of a leader which brings us to the main question “who is a leader” and “what is the meaning of leadership”. Well according to Bill Gates a leader is a person who empowers others, a person who has the courage to take tough decisions and stand by them, but more importantly a leader is someone who has the compassion to listen to the needs of his/her followers. However the most important quality a leader should possess is motivation a leader should be able to transfer his positive energy to his followers in order to build team spirit and desire to succeed collectively in terms of goal achievement people come from different cultures and different parts of the world but a leader should try to understand or empathize with his/her followers and act accordingly ,for example some employees may work better

As many of my peers have addressed in our weekly discussion, the true definition of leadership can be complicated to identify. There are a variety of definitions that address a different characteristic of leadership. Nahavandi defines a leader as “any person who influences individuals and groups within an organization, helps them establish goals, and guides them toward achievement of those goals, thereby allowing them to be effective” (2015, pg.3). This demonstrates that leaders are always thinking about the well-being of the people within their organizations, not just the deadlines and what they want to accomplish for themselves.…

When one thinks of a leader, what type of person do we think of? Is that individual a hero that we see on television, a cartoon character, a family member, or is that person a public servant? Regardless of occupation and title, a leader is a person who inspires others and they know how to motivate people. “When they arrive, you see something about them that stands out. The inner strength of their leadership ability emerges”. (Gonzalez, 2007, February 1). Leaders are individuals in your area of work who are focused on the tasks at hand and they have a clear and concise vision on what their respective organizations are set out to do.…

There are many definitions of leadership. The Collins English dictionary defines leadership as “the leader(s) of a party or group.” Yet true leadership is much more than that. A leader can be the chief executive officer of an organization, or a first year employee who leads his or her team to success behind the scenes. A leader might lead through official authority and power, yet just as often great leaders lead through inspiration, persuasion and personal connections. Teaching others to be a leader is a daunting task within itself (Pankaew, 2013).…
