This paper will explain the different variances of a small group of my peers with regard to our self- assessment results; based upon The Platinum Rule® Model of Behavioral Styles created by Dr. Tony Alessandra. Along with an explanation, this paper will highlight a professional development plan that will address the different characteristics of my group. Additionally, I will describe how this plan may be used to determine the needs of my learning team as well as assessing our skills, strengths, areas needing improvement, and the resources needed to help them reach their career goals. Taking shortcuts seems like cheating to me, so I avoid such behaviors. I can become impatient with those who procrastinate about getting started. At times, I can get so involved with getting a job done that I stretch the truth a bit.
The four of us have some great qualities, as well as some not so great tendencies when it comes to doing work with others or getting what we want. As a team leader, it is vital for me to understand how each person thinks and acts so that I can plan accordingly and have a successful outcome on any type of project. Seeing as how three of us, including myself, have a more Interactive Style and one of us is a Cautious Style, I need to remain aware of what motivates each person to get the job

By doing so, I feel that I could make more informed decisions about which person to have perform certain tasks, decide which person to lean on harder as needed, and which person I need to give some extra space while working on a project. I would make it clear that I am always open to suggestions for ways that we can improve the team. By having a better understanding of what motivates people to do things; I can learn how to move forward with a variety of people that can work well together to accomplish any task that needs to get done.
Having a professional development plan in place allows for people to take a snapshot of their performance and gives us a standard to meet. In order for there to be any growth opportunities, we must be willing to look at ourselves and evaluate our own performance; as well as welcoming an outside viewpoint from another person. The purpose of having a other people evaluate us is to give us other perspectives as to our strengths and weaknesses that we might not have previously considered.
