Lasting Love
ANALYSIS/ REFLECTION:

Lasting love is the story¬¬¬ of a woman who fell in love with the guy from their childhood until she was died. The story of love that lasts and never changed until her last breathed Love that compelled to the woman to do good for her beloved even without anything in return and love that waits and never become selfish.
In the story, the author started through conversation that later on drifted to love. From the beginning of the story until the end it revolved in the story of a woman who fell in love with the guy until she died her love was still there. In the story the main characters were chair-mender the woman who fell in love deeply to a guy named monsieur chouquet. To present a model in the question about love the old doctor told the story of chair-mender. From this story the old doctor became the narrator and showed what kind of woman and guy the chain-mender and chouquet. From the lighted table the story took place from the childhood of the chain-mender until she met the guy and her circumstances and death. As we see the main theme of this story is sacrifice. It is always embodied in love, without sacrifice there’s no true love. This theme was evident in the action of the chain –mender who sacrificed all she had for the good of the guy. The old doctor who was the narrator narrated the whole story from the beginning till the end. We can also consider him as the minor character in the story. The conflict here was man vs. man, the chain –mender and the guy her love for him until her last breathed. The symbol that the author used to portray love was the money which means sacrificed and profit, the sacrificed of the woman to keep the money for the profit of the guy.
As my reflection in the story it is evident that love never teaches wrong but always good. Love always sacrificed because without sacrificed there’s no true love. The good and perfect example of this love is our Lord because of love he sacrificed himself for our good to save us in our sins. And also it was shown in the woman who always gave all she had for the good of the guy she loved. From that story we will learn that it is possible to love many times but to love truly it is once only. These true loves we all know will last until death and never wait anything in return and always do well for our beloved. Love is sacrifice.

Chapter 17 describes the final breakdown of Joe and Clarissa’s relationship and marks the point in the narrative in which Joe’s isolation from those around him seems complete. McEwan contradicts ensuing events by first placing Joe and Clarissa into an intimate late-night setting, implying that there will be a reconciliation between the two; ‘we were lying face to face in bed, as if nothing was wrong’. The language used here by Joe is also misleading-creating rich imagery and an atmosphere of emotion normally seen from Clarissa, ‘lying in the green field of her stare’-lexis reminiscent of the picnic before the ballooning accident and evoking a pre-lapserian image of the connection the two shared before the arrival of Jed as a Biblical, snake-like intruder to their bliss. This linguistic shift hints at a reunion, although it is also dismantled by Joe’s rationalism ‘synaesthesia... due to disorientation’, as their relationship has been.…

The scene was one of cosy domesticity, a man and a woman sharing breakfast after a night out clubbing together. Married? Lovers? Boyfriend and girlfriend, or just a platonic relationship, it could have been any of the three, and the scene would have been mirrored in many homes across Rome. They were normal. Or at least, together, they contained a semblance of normality, which to Kyle, was almost as eerie a sensation as was the morning after his first murder to know that the woman across from him, the one who’d have reason to never trust another man, or allow one to touch her ever again, had entrusted him to hold her in his arms as she slept. And held no regrets for having done so, and not just that. She’d also revealed details to him of her life experiences that she doubted to spoken of with such earnestness and honesty to anyone before him, and he’d returned the favour without a second thought. With her eyes closed, and her soft breathing, and the faintest of snores, but no drooling, she’d appeared so serene and peaceful, and the Army veteran hoped that he’d been in same way responsible for the lack of nightmares.…

Some may argue that the greatest love story to date is Romeo and Juliet: the love; the passion; the unlikely pair. Although Romeo and Juliet may be a great tale of two unlikely lovers, it could never compare to Our Christian Story. However, throughout these two renowned stories, elements of love and sacrifice can be demonstrated frequently. Out of love, we are able to make sacrifices for those whom which we hold dear to our hearts; when humanity betrayed God by consuming fruit from the forbidden tree, He displayed an unconditional love by sending His only son, Jesus Christ, to absolve us from sin. This represents a vital bond of love that has, over time, remained between God and humanity, but to experience this bliss we must freely embrace…

Joe is constantly trying to feed us with facts and observations he makes in order to convince the readers that he is a reliable narrator. He uses short factual sentences, such as "I picked up the cordless and dialled last number recall" (pg 47), "Then two things happened" (pg 48) and "I fixed my 12 pages with a paperclip and balanced their weight in my hand" (pg 50). The use of numbers and language like "weight" help him not only calm himself down, but convince the readers that he's in control of his own situation.…

What is love? Love is a deep affection or passion towards someone (The Oxford Dictionary). William Shakespeare is known for his infamous play, Romeo and Juliet. In the story, the two protagonists from opposed families, Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet, fall in love with one another. Many scenes and incidents happened in the story that involves love to not last for an infinite time. Initially, Romeo was deeply in love with Rosaline; however, his feelings has shifted towards Juliet, showing that one's love for someone can change over a period of time. Moreover, the relationship that Juliet had with the Nurse ended due to the comments that the Nurse made. Another example to illustrate impermanent love is when Romeo and Juliet die for each other, resulting in both their lives and relationship to end abruptly. The decision one makes in a relationship results in a certain outcome. In the case of Romeo and Juliet their decisions caused their love to not last forever.…

Students, APA formatting is not required, however, you are required to substantiate your responses and opinions with laws, cases, statutes, codes, regulations or anything else that gives credibility to your answers. Remember, this is a legal class. Also, remember to state issues, integrate facts, discuss both sides of an issue, thoroughly analyze each question in detail, and lastly, conclude, based upon your legal findings and premise. You can have more than one conclusion as long as you argue both sides of an issue. You don’t need one absolute conclusion. The most important thing in law would be your ability to see both sides, argue them, and present alternative conclusions based upon these factors.…

We start the chapter with a description of Parry through Jed “No longer the Indian brave, despite the pony-tail”. McEwan really sets the scene with this as it gives us a clear picture of how Parry actually is. Shortly afterwards Jed’s scientific side comes out as he starts to re-assure himself that Parry is really harmless and that is was the accident that clouded his judgement. We feel a sense of relief as we now are told Parry is not threat as he is a “harmless fellow with a strange notion”.…

    Modern Love

Use of intense simile and metaphor throughout “Modern Love” also demonstrates a grim view on the concept of modern love. The muffled cries of the wife are called “little gaping snakes” showing how afraid and vulnerable the husband is to them. The man’s wife has a “Giant heart of Memory and Tears” which shows the heavy, almost useless organ that the wife carries around within her, empty of love, only able to remember the sadness to which she has been subjected to. Then, the husband and wife are said to be “like sculpture effigies” in their “common bed,” lying “stone-still.” Instead of two lovers talking to each other and loving each other in their bed, a place shared between the two of them, they are “moveless” and silent. This makes modern love seem empty of joy, empty of companionship, and devoid of love.…

The story is mostly built up in a dialogue between the two main characters of the story, an old man and a young gentleman. The young gentleman tries to buy a love poison for his girlfriend, who he is afraid to lose. The old man, tell the young man the side effects and the magical things the love poison can do. Not caring about the bad things that can happen with him giving the love poison to his girlfriend, he takes off with the love poison hoping to make his girlfriend be with him forever. Collier underscore’s how dangerous the cynicism of an old man and the desire of a young man can lead to the need for an ideal of love that permits interchange, individuality, and understanding. This sort of love, because it excludes everything else in life, suffocates rather than pleases.…
