Kind of like love before first sight." (2012:5) against their fate, for the time being. However, there is no telling if they will win the war in then next book, Beautiful Darkness (2010). There are no grey areas in Beautiful Creatures (2009); it’s black and white, light and dark and good and evil all the way Lena between light and dark, which you can read in her poetry as she writes "darkfire, lightdark / dark matter, what matters?" (2012:439) Social class and acceptance also play a big role in Beautiful Creatures (2009).
