Krypton: Chemical Elements Of The Periodic Table
Although when you first hear the word Krypton you just might automatically think of the planet in the Superman comics. Krypton is a chemical element of the periodic table. The periodic table has about one hundred and eighteen elements. Krypton is number thirty six in the periodic table it is in group eighteen period four. It is a part of the noble gas series. Its atomic number is thirty six and its atomic mass is eighty three point seven nine eight. It has forty eight neutrons in its most sufficient isotope that are in four different electron shells. It was discovered by Chemist Sir William Ramsay and Morris Travers in the year eighteen ninety eight. It was found in London when Sir William Ramsay made a statement that there had to be more elements because there was a gap in the Periodic Table of Elements that are like Krypton in being noble gasses helium and argon. Knowing this he was determined to find the elements that where needed to fill the gap so he did a little research. He collected information about how one element could possibly hide another element. So he thought maybe there is a new element hiding in his previously discovered element Argon. Argon is also in group eighteen on the periodic table which is in the noble gas series like Krypton. Krypton’s physical properties are: Melting point: negative one hundred and fifty seven point two Degrees Celsius, Boiling point: Negative one hundred and fifty three point four Degrees Celsius, it is also colorless, odorless, and tasteless.

    Dmitri Ivanovich Mendeleev (1834-1907) was a Russian chemist famous for his formulation of classification of elements, or what is now called the Periodic Table of Elements (2011). On 6 March 1869, Mendeleev made a formal presentation to the Russian Chemical Society, titled “The Dependence between the Properties of the Atomic Weights of the Elements”, which described elements according to both atomic weight and valence.
