My response to Hill’s presentation of the woman in black fluctuates throughout the novel. Initially I was frightened of her, however as more information was revealed about her life I began to feel more sympathetic. My response changes as Hill presents her in many different ways through; her physical description, movement, how others react towards her, the setting and weather and through the narrative technique.…

It is safe to say that this was one of the most drama-filled exciting novels I have ever read. My jaw dropped when the killer was revealed and I was near-trembling throughout the whole novel. I believe Craig Silvey has done a wonderful job on this novel and it is definitely a must read for everyone. I recommend this novel to anyone that enjoys, horror, romance or even comedy because ‘Jasper Jones’ is a beautiful combination of all three…

This book is already super intense! I am reading the part of the book where Ricky and Jacob go to Grandpa Portman’s house to see if he is okay, but find him dead, and Jacob sees a creepy monster-like creature in the shadows. I love the vivid descriptions and perfect imagery in this book. Everything seems so real, like you could be experiencing it too. I like the portrayal of Ricky as the bad/tough guy, but we all know that he is super scared too. Jacob’s grandpa left so much unanswered by what he said, and I love the mystery there.…

Dashiell Hammett has constructed Sam Spade in a way so the protagonist has become a feature of the book, rather than merely a medium for the transfer of clue and information in this novel. The reader is given the chance to venture in Spades mind and inner thoughts, Hammett cleverly allows Spade to expression his values, fears and opinions to the respondent and in turn allowing them to associate, trust and relate to him. In bringing the reader closer to the protagonist Hammett has subliminally lured the reader closer to the crime, the suspects and the victims and ultimately dragged them deeper into the noir world in which Sam Spade resides.…

Recommendation ~ I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in psychology, crime, or murder because that's basically what the book is comprised of. Although, you have to be intelligent enough to figure things out for yourself and read beyond the words written on the page because the author does not spell everything out for you. It would also be best if you have a vivid and darker imagination because it is more enjoyable that way.…

One thing James Dashner is good at is Storytelling. Making up this world and coming up with all the plot twists, he's a very talented writer. He tends to write creating suspense, making the next plot twist come at the right moment and right time, making you want to go on to the next chapter. James made it literally impossible for me to try and figure out what was going to happen. Like many of the characters in the book, I had no idea who I could trust or believe. Some of the plot twists and answers some things I questioned, but overall it was a fast-paced tale that easily drew me in, and it will draw you in too that’s why I recommend this book to everyone.…
