(AGG) The book Under The Persimmon Tree by Suzanne Fisher Staples is a great book to show how one can be affected by loss, and how loss shapes someone for better or for worse. (BS-1) When Baba-Jan and Nur were kidnapped by the Taliban, Najmah became much more responsible, mature, and helpful around the house. (BS-2) When Najmah became a boy in the form of Shaheed, she learned to adapt to her surroundings and use what she had. (BS-3) After Najmah finally reunited with Nur, she became very determined yet mentally sound. (TS) Najmah was shaped by loss in 3 different ways due to 3 different losses, in the fact that she became more responsible and grown up, learned to adapt, and was very determined yet mentally sound after everything she had been…

Trey Parker once said, “Every hero needs a sidekick; every captain needs a mate.” This quote means, even if a hero thinks they can do everything alone then they mistaken. In the book, The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan. It is about young, brave Percy Jackson (son of Poseidon) who is on a quest to return the master Lightning bolt back to Olympus because if not there will be a war of the gods. In the text Romulus my father, written by Raimond Gaita, the main character of Romulus's life is marked by suffering. Gaita who is the son of Romulus, includes plenty personal and descriptive accounts of his father Romulus. Many of these accounts involve examples of how Romulus life was marked by suffering. Such suffering occurred throughout Romulus life by having to move away from his homeland to Australia, being denied his love for education, having to work his hands to the bone in order to scrape by and the overall conditions that Romulus lived by to constantly support others. Only Romulus being the strong man of physical stamina and perseverance could have copped with these painful circumstances.…

I think the theme of the two stories "The Flies and the Honey Pot" and "The Frogs and the Well" by Aesop is, You should always think before you act, or you will have to deal with outcome you chose. In the poem "The Flies and the Honey Pot" it talks about how an animal that is driven by greed, acts without thinking and dies a horrible death because of it. In the article it says “With many a twitch and pull in vain they gasped to get away again, and died in aromatic pain” (Aesop). This shows that the flies died because, they were greedy with the honey and got stuck when they were eating it. In conclusion, you should think about what you are doing, and also think about what the consequences could be, and if the bad ones out way the good…
He used all the fancy adjectives to describe the value of glorious treasures, the ironic part is that all those unvalued treasures, were “All scattered in the bottom of the sea”. These three lines are highly ironic as the comparison between the valuable of the jewels and the places that they were ---- the bottom of the sea, no one will discover them, no one will ever own them. Human does need material for survival, but the over strong pursuit of material desire will make one becomes hysterical, and ultimately lost the spirit of sustenance and even life. In these lines, the concept of materialism was criticized and mocked. The materialism is the gospel of mammon, the human natural towards materialism was ever continuing.…

Marriage is when two people who love each other come together to form a special bond. However, perception and reality of marriage couldn’t be more different. Although Hera is widely known for being jealous and violent, she is in fact a victim. She is a victim of being mistreated by Zeus and misunderstood by most people when indeed Hera is one of the most influential goddesses of all time. She embodies perfectly the characteristics of pride and honor. Hera should not be remembered just for being envious and vengeful, but worshiped for being the queen of all gods.…

Martin Luther King Jr. once stated that “The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.” This means that if you want to judge a person, look to see how they act in times of trouble and hardship. Anyone can act calm when they’re doing nothing and everything’s all hunky dory. But only a good person can remain just as calm and positive in times of crisis and stress. “The Crucible” by Arthur Miller and After by Francine Prose can support that this quote is indeed true in all aspects.…
In Nothing Gold Can Stay Frost shows the loss of innocence between two figures, Eden and gold. The poems first line, Nature's first green is gold explains that gold represents innocence. Frost then writes, Her early leaf's a flower/But only so an hour. Frost shows that innocence does not last forever and will soon fade. The poem follows saying that Eden goes into grief symbolizing the loss of innocence. When applying this theme to human nature, the gold represents childhood and when Then leaf subsides to leaf humans slowly lose their innocence as they become adults. To stay gold is to stay true in this poem. However, gold loses lust and brilliance as it becomes into a different object, very much like how people lose innocence and they change their nature into a different person. Although gold represents purity and innocence, it also shows ignorance. To be human is to have taken from the Tree of Knowledge and gain conscious of knowledge. As people progress through their lives, ignorance along with innocence slowly fades away. Frost also exemplifies how quick reality sets into ones life when he writes, But only so an hour. Frost shows that after losing innocence and ignorance, knowledge and reality takes place instead. However, this poem can also apply to other things seen in human nature. For example, happiness does not stay forever just as people cannot live forever. At one point sooner or later everything fades away, thus Eden, who represents humans, sank to grief and Frost shows how nothing can stay gold.…
