King David Persuasive Essay
Sadly, Avner dies due to the miscommunication between David and Yoav. The opportunity presents itself for Ish Boshet to rally the nation to his side. Immediately, following Avner's death Ish Boshet can speak to the nation in an attempt to convince the nation that he should be the next King. Here is what Ish Boshet can say to rally his people:

Nation of Israel, we have just suffered a terrible loss, Avner has been brutally murder. Do you really want your next King to be a murderer? Yoav, David’s general assassinated our beloved general, Avner? Since David did not even punish Yoav, they must have been working together to try to kill Avner. Whose side is David even on? Is David an enemy or a friend? Do you really want a traitor and a person who murdered one of your leaders to be your next King? While Avner was not only the best general of his time, he was an excellent leader, who believed in me as his King. We can not let Avner die in vain. After so much he has done for this nation, we can not give up now. We must continue what Avner has started, we must complete his goal, to continue the legacy of Shaul. I, the son of Shaul will be able to do just that. Shaul was a large factor in making this Nation as great as it is today. He was the first King to ever unite this magnificent Nation. In addition, Shaul was a skilled military leader, and taught me to be the same. When the Luchot were stolen, it was my father, Shaul, who returned the Luchot and saved Israel. Furthermore, when Yavesh Gilad was in trouble, my father rapidly prepared an army, and defeated Nachash, the King of Ammon.
