1. Macbeth is a play that remains relevant and interesting over 400 years after it was written, as is the case with many of Shakespeare’s works. Why is Shakespeare still worth reading?
Answer:
Shakespeare is still worth reading because the stories are interesting with amazing plot twist and characters. For example, Romeo and Juliet have fallen in love with each other and their families dislike each other. And Romeo kills himself because he thinks Juliet is dead. Macbeth betrays and kills the king that he adores because of the seed of greed. This shows Romeo loved Juliet dearly and that he couldn’t live without her. And Macbeth had adored the King so much that he rather kill the king and a be a king.
Shakespeare is still worth reading because (Your answer should be 3-5 sentences and give at least 2 reasons.)

2. Is Duncan a fool for going to Macbeth’s castle and not suspecting the danger posed to him there by Macbeth and Lady Macbeth? Why or why not?
Answer using complete sentences:
Prewriting:
Is Duncan a fool? No.
Reasons Why:
1. Reason one: Duncan isn’t a fool for going to his house but a fool for not having protection while he rested.
2. Reason two: Duncan isn’t a fool for simply trusting a man that helped win a war.
3. Reason three: Duncan isn’t a fool because he didn’t know Macbeth was plotting to kill him. He was blinded because he thought Macbeth was a good Samaritan.
Conclude:
Duncan wasn’t a fool but he was foolish to trust a fool that plotted to kill him and succeed. Duncan wasn’t and still isn’t a fool because he trusted a simile and mustache. Duncan trusted the wrong man that did good deed but the lesson learned here is that a person can do well just as much as a person can do wrong and that greed is the ulatime

Duncan makes the mistake of trusting the thane of Cawdor at the beginning of the play. This is an example of Duncan’s fatal flaw that he is too trusting of others. “He was a man on whom I built an absolute trust”. Duncan was deceived in this instance but this had no-where near the affect the deception of Macbeth had on him. After Duncan ordered the execution of the Thane of Cawdor and gives the title to Macbeth “What he hath lost, noble Macbeth hath won”. Duncan is eventually brought to Macbeths castle in Inverness and murdered by Macbeth even after Duncan claimed, “This castle hath a pleasant seat”. This is an example of…

In addition to this, after speaking of the old thane of Cawdor’s betrayal, King Duncan himself claims that it is impossible to judge anyone by their outward appearance... ‘There’s no art to find the minds construction in the face.’ Almost directly after he states this, he warmly welcomes Macbeth calling him his worthiest cousin and claiming there is no way he can thank him properly and repay him to what he rightly deserves. Shakespeare cleverly used this as an ironic juxtaposition. The irony in this is that Macbeth has just received the prophecies from the witches and was plotting how he was going to conduct Duncan’s murder, so that he can fulfil the prophecy and become king, disrupting the chain of being.…

Duncan was killed mainly because of his poor judgment of a person, namely Macbeth. We see from the first act that Duncan has trusted two people, Thane of Cawdor and Macdonwald, who would betray him and Scotland. This shows he has a record for establishing trust with the wrong people. Duncan believes, "There's no art to find the mind's construction in the face: he was a man whom I built an absolute trust"(I,iv,14-17) This quote shows yet again that he does not know the right people to trust. Due to the lack of judgment and the ambition of Macbeth to take the throne, Duncan was transformed from a king to a pawn in Macbeth's chess game.…

“You may be deceived if you trust too much, but you will live in torment if you do not trust enough” (Frank Crane). Stated by Frank Crane, this quote directly relates to the trust and confidence Duncan has on his thanes especially the two Thanes of Cawdor. “He was a gentleman on whom I built an absolute trust.” (I, iv, 15-16). In the preceding quote, Duncan tells us about the absolute trust he had in the first Thane of Cawdor. It is this confidence that Duncan has in his thanes that result’s to be his nemesis. On the other hand, the Prince of Cumberland, Malcolm’s character was opposite to that of his father. In the quote, “Macduff, this noble... and honour” (IV, iii, 129-132) Malcolm tests Macduff to make sure he was not an ally of the enemy before placing his trust in Macduff. This contradicts his father’s belief that his subjects are trustworthy. In the following quote, Duncan tells us about the mistake he made. “There’s no art to find the mind’s construction in face” (I, iv, 13-14). It is ironic that Duncan says that it is impossible to trust or know about a person’s character just by their looks because Duncan makes another mistake of trusting Macbeth and saying that Macbeth deserves more than what he has. “No more that…

King Duncan trusted Macbeth too much; Macbeth appears like a wounded captain’s account of his battlefield valor, our initial impression is of a brave and capable warrior in front of King Duncan. However, we were all deceived. In the first act, the traitor of Scotland, Macdonwald, who fought against King Duncan was defeated and killed by Macbeth. King Duncan states “Go pronounce his present death/ And with his former title greet Macbeth.” (Shakespeare 1. 2. 73-74). This quotation pictures King Duncan trusting Macbeth a lot and thining he is truly faithful because he was the hero of Scotland, so he gave Macbeth the title, Thane of Cawdor. However, in reality, Macbeth is not faithful to King Duncan. Macbeth led wicked thoughts by the prophecies of three witches, especially after their prophecy that he will become Thane of Cawdor and it came true. When Macbeth is back to in his castle, Lady Macbeth and him was planning to assassinate King Duncan; at the same time, King Duncan wanted to go to Macbeth’s castle to visit him. While King Duncan is on his way to Macbeth’s castle, he said:…

King Duncan was beloved of his nobles and citizens because of his good qualities. He also entitled Macbeth the Thane of Cawdor. Macbeth should be the one who respected and supported him. However, the prophecy of the three witches that Macbeth was going to be the King of Scotland provoked Macbeth’s ambition. He wanted to kill the king so that he could usurp the throne, but there were conflicts within him. He was Duncan’s kinsman and subject. He was also the king’s host. He should protect the king rather than kill the king. It was a mortal sin to kill one’s family member and his guest. What’s more, Duncan was a good king: He did good things in the government; he had great virtues and people loved him. And Macbeth would be judged if he killed the great king. Many worries conflicted in Macbeth’s mind. However, his ambition eventually drove him to commit murder.…

Macbeth’s decision to listen to the initial three prophecies of the witches reveals through his actions his personality by showing that he is gullible and that he is greedy. It reveals his personality because he becomes greedy by killing Duncan in order for him to become king without having to do any work. He is gullible by him listening to the witches initial three prophecies without knowing if they were true or not, and he is also gullible and greedy simultaneously, when he listens to Lady Macbeth when she tells him to kill Duncan and if he does not, that she will not love him…
